Is this right? No availability for reward J SIN-BNE (or MEL, SYD) Oct 2018

Hi Ausbt - long time reader first post!


I have been monitoring the SIN (or HKG) to BNE (or MEL, SYD) for 27th October 2018 for the past month. Weird thing is there is no reward availability in J after 30 Sept 2018 (and even then its Jetstar economy).

I realise there has been a post this week about J availability 308 days out but this seems strange. No J availability for Oct 2018? Am I missing something??

I am assuming you are referring to Qantas. I think it’s too early, there should be plenty of availability esp when the A 380 service starts. BTW has anyone noticed how stingy CX is on Business award bookings from MEL and Sydney?They are just not releasing the seats.

Which FFP are you trying to book those flights with? If as sharrky said with QF flights, then good luck finding award availability. QF is well known to be stingy in releasing premium cabin seats, and with so many QFF members on Aus, those seats get taken very quickly.

CX flights to and fro HKG should be ok, but they release at 360 days out and gets taken very quickly too. At 308 days out it's usually gone.

Try EK F. Usually they have more availability. Or use VFF to book SQ flights. (KF is better if you have them).

Give QF a call. I've found that the availability is limited but they will be able to have a complete look at all options.

What status do you have? If you're using the QFF program you should note that QF releases seats for high status members first.

I can get J/F award on EK metal only for 27th October. Y is available on QF flights.


As a test, Thurs 25th October has availability in J on QF but through MEL.

Yes - sorry I meant to include I am bronze with QFF. Its really strange, I have watched the dates for the entire month since the 353 day point and nothing in October for OneWorld has become available (there is some EK flights).

I can understand the dates sell out quick but there has not been a J QF flight after October 14 from my information.

For QF metal (i.e. QF operated flights) Bronze now won’t see seats till 310 days out from what I’ve read. This gives those with status a priority period to get seats. Bronze can pick from what’s left (if anything).


Do you have an eligible family member with status?
