What a bargain, usually flying to Dubai economy class with QF already cost 2000 bucks. But of course it’s a direct fight....what I found is that from Kualalumpur, Singapore or Jarkata to Dubai business 320 return status are all cost between 1200-1600
Seems like you've missed the cheapest QF status run. Qatar was offering $870 business class from Vietnam (either HAN or SGN) to JFK in last October, and each return flight earns 520 status credits. (position flight to Vietnam will earn you 80 - and that makes you Qantas gold in just one trip!)
If you are not averse to flying JQ - recently got DRW to SIN with Max bundle. 100 SC on the return trip for just $335! Just a 4-hour trip each way - so a quick weekend getaway and SC for the FF bank! :)
Wow! $870 for 520 SC's is awesome not to mention getting to the US and return in J for that price on a great airline!! A small point though btaus is that the 600 points you mention will only retain Gold if you already have status. You need 700 SC's to attain Gold.

Wow! $870 for 520 SC's is awesome not to mention getting to the US and return in J for that price on a great airline!! A small point though btaus is that the 600 points you mention will only retain Gold if you already have status. You need 700 SC's to attain Gold.
