Velocity to Krisflyer conversion devaluation

Just received an email from Singapore airlines stating that from Jan 1 2019 Krisflyer points will transfer to velocity at a new rate of 1.55 (from 1.35). I would be highly surprised if velocity don't take up the new transfer rate as well. Get your transfers in now before points are worth less. A really bad sign for velocity as it was one of the redeeming factors for their lack of alliance.

Is the Virgin offer in relation to Qantas running a double status credits offer? Or is it to try to have people book flights? JCH, how long does the double points offer go for?

Earn double Velocity Points when you book a Virgin Australia flight by 22 October 2018 for travel between 1 January 2019 and 9 October 2019.

Need to activate offer first on website:

Means your better off using the points to bake a booking via velocity than transfer.

Which occurs first:

Flying becomes such a miserable experience people stop or

FF Programs become so worthless people don't value them.

I suspect this decision was because transferring points between each was costly to both programs and they would rather people redeem for Singapore flights on their own program.

Flying is very important for many people as that is one of the quickest ways for us to get off this big island of ours so that would be the last thing to ever happen. But I agree, program devaluations are increasingly common. Whilst the transfer rate isn't a big deal, since it wasn't the best value anyway, I see this becoming more problematic overtime as redemption rates go from 8000 for a domestic flight to 80000 points.

The problem with booking via velocity is the non existent availability...shpws up with once a week to LHR vs multiple combinations a day with SQ.

Given this am I best to collect kris flyer points instead of velocity on a sq flight?
