Have a few flights in US on AA and wondering if I get complementary baggage being a OW Sapphire (QFGold) - seems to have been some changes since Sept 18
I flew on cheap AA Y fares a few weeks ago as AA flights and wasn’t asked for money for bags, and was “upgraded” to Main Cabin Plus. It’s just the equivalent of row 4 on a QF 737. Bit of a joke calling it “plus”. Bit got free baggage as a QF Gold
I do not know if i agree with pab2025. I have bought the cheapest fares more than a dozen times with AA. If you have your QF Gold or Platinum details entered at booking process, it automatically shows the OW status on the boarding pass, i think with QF gold, you get one or two bags free and for QF platinum you get one additional bag free. However, i have not travelled with AA in almost 6 months, so things may have changed since.
pab2025 might want to have a read also, has nothing to do with cheap/basic or standrd economy fares

I would also point out that OW Emerald (QF Platinum) gets 70 lbs (32 kgs) per pieces instead of the 50 lbs (23 kgs) Ruby (QF Silver) and Sapphire (QF Gold) get. Not every AA check-in staff member knows that, from experience.
"First and Business, Executive Platinum and oneworld® Emerald members can check bag up to 70 lbs / 32 kgs at no extra cost."

They tried to charge me once (for multiple bags) but on showing my platinum card (which was on the booking anyway) they backed down.
