This year I stayed at the new-ish JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach... very nice. They usually do free breakfast (included - but double check - just across from the lobby), you get Bonvoy points earn, a nice high-level pool with great views and bar, new arty design, also a gin bar, next to the Raffles and the Convention Centre (if you have a conference there), there are a lot of good bars and places to eat at South Beach and it is a short walk to the Esplanade and Marina, and with the Esplanade MRT station adjacent.

I would recommend Westin at Marina Bay, quiet on the weekends as its in the business district, and Metro lines within 1 block. Club level worth considering if you can get a good deal

Park hotel in Robertson Quay for a very understated but comfortable stay. Fullerton to blow the budget. Avoid marina Bay sands

Swisshotel Stamford is my #1 choice in Singapore for the incredible views, pool deck and lounge on top of the 60 story hotel. Rooms recently refurbished and quite large. Connectivity via MRT is very easy to the entire city from the SwissHotel Stamford. In contrast the SwissHotel Merchant Court is a bit more tired hotel and not in my Top 10 in Singapore, so best to avoid.

Hotel Fort Canning is EXCELLENT if you're looking for something quieter - still only a short walk from transport but is in the middle of Fort Canning Park and has a lovely pool.

Otherwise I'm a big fan of the MSocial or Oasia.

The Intercontinental at Bugis Junction , absolutely fabulous Very easy to get to via the MRT on the East West line .Its about a 3 minute walk to the Hotel and there is an excellent shopping center there .If you need a Sim card two Telcos have shops only 1 minute from the Hotel
If its raining the walk from the MRT to the Hotel is under cover There is a good Laundry service that charges by the kilo nearby and they will return your Laundry to the Hotel free of charge for you

I too have stayed at the Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore by Shangri-La. Great roof top pool overlooking Orchard Rd, a 1st rate breakfast and a fabulous food court right next door.
