AMEX payment option missing from multiple Qantas bookings

Hi all,

I have made a couple of Qantas bookings recently (one on the website, one on the mobile app), and on both occasions there has not been an American Express payment option. To save time I simply booked these on a different points earning card, but was wondering if anyone else had noticed this (or if Qantas has changed their payment policies and I simply wasn't aware)?

I made some reward bookings last weekend and used the Amex card for payment of the taxes and other charges.

Were you purchasing flights in a different currency, by chance? Payment methods can vary by currency, and even though Qantas has typically accepted AMEX for the majors like GBP, EUR, HKG, USD, NZD etc, there could well be some currencies where AMEX hasn't been set up properly, or can't be set up due to local restrictions.

Hi Chris,

I made the bookings from the Papua New Guinea version of the site, in PNG Kina. I have lived here for about 8 years and have always been able to pay with Amex previously in the local currency.

It may be technical gremlins stopping Amex from being offered as a payment option - the internet is so bad today that the desktop version of the website won't even load for me (hence using the mobile app, which I don't often do).

Maybe it's the PNG currency that the payment processor doesn't like?
