Fiji Airways kicks off its regional brand, Fiji Link

Fiji Airways is continuing its ambitious rebranding campaign with the debut of Fiji Link – a new name for the airline's domestic and regional arm currently known as Pacific Sun.

Delivered to Fiji Airways in Suva, a factory-fresh ATR-72 turbo-prop aircraft comes with a fresh look match the new moniker.

Fiji Link's livery shares its design DNA with Fiji Airways' mainline Airbus A330 and Boeing 737 fleet, including unique 'Masi' symbols and a brown logo block with stylised woodcut typeface.

"Fiji Link is an appropriate name for our airline and like its parent Fiji Airways, Fiji Link will fly the Fijian flag wherever it flies" says Shaenaz Voss, General Manager at Pacific Sun.

As you can see from the PR snaps below, Fiji Airways has got this whole airline-wide branding schtick down pat.

There are the uniforms, which are based on traditional Fijian attire and mix rich chocolate and vibrant aqua colours...

... the cabins of its Airbus A330 and Boeing 737...

... a matching dining service...

... plus blankets and pillows.

Dragonair is an exception, no "Link" or "Express"...

So is SilkAir, but the Asian definition of 'regional' is a bit different to all the 'Express' or 'Link' regionals here in Australia.

Virgin Australia Regional...is that one? (the former Skywest airline that has "Regional" as its suffix instead of "Express" or "Link")

I know, and there's Aeropelican and Brindabella (well, not Brindabella - not anymore)...

The original joke was about how many regional arms of mainline carriers, e.g. QantasLink, FijiLink, etc. are all called -Link (or Express, or Connect, or some such other dimunitive derivative name).

Fiji Airways is still a very disgraceful airline. The crew are never present in the flight. Economy catering is unedible and seats are not comfortable on the 737. Air Vanuatu are a much better airline even though they only have 1 737.

I really like the rebranding. I don't really like the new uniforms, but, hey, that's certinly not anything to worry about
