Free unlimited Skype phone calls for a month

Skype is offering a full month's unlimited free worldwide Skype-to-phone in a promotion that's a real gem for business travellers.

It's essentially a free month of the "Unlimited World" package, offering calls to landlines in more than 40 countries, plus mobile phones in seven countires.

We at AusBT are big fans of Skype, both when travelling and for calling overseas from the office, so if you're considering taking Skype for a test-drive this is the perfect time.

There's one catch: the deal is restricted to existing users of Skype.

Note that you'll have to sign up before 15 November, and you must have had a Skype account for more than 29 days prior... which means that now is already too late to sign up.

You'll also need to provide Skype with payment info, and be aware that the subscription automatically renews unless you cancel it within 27 days. Prices work out to around A$15 a month.

Unlimited World allows calls to landlines and mobile phones in Canada, Guam, Hong Kong S.A.R. China, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Thailand and the United States.

Only landlines are included in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia (Moscow and St. Petersburg only), Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom and Venezuela.

Tip of the AusBT hat to blogger Gary Leff over at View from the Wing for the find.

This looks like a great deal, and sure to capture more customers for Skype once the free month is over. However, I cant seem to get the link to work, nor can I find anythign referencing it on the Skype page when I log into my account. I've been an avid Skype user for years now, so it can't be the sign up limitation. Is this deal limited to any specfic country?

Hi nicksname -- do you get the page with a green "claim your free month" button when you click through?

Link seems to be working now! Previously a "page not found" error popped up when clicking on the link, but all seems to be working now. Cheers!

Skype is good for "free calls" and video, but their call rates are substantially above other SIP providers for who alternative clients are widely available.

For a few examples, check https://www.mobilevoip.com

They have clients available for most platforms (including BB, Nokia and Windows)

I have been with Skype for at least 10 years. I have tried a number of times to link to this and every time it has failed. Seems like I am not the only one who can't get through.
