Malaysia Airlines will boost Melbourne to 'triple daily' status with the introduction of a third daily flight to Kuala Lumpur later this year.
The new MH146/147 service will begin on 21 November and use the airline's latest Airbus A330 with angled lie-flat seats, on-demand entertainment, AC sockets for charging your laptop and USB ports for topping up your tablet or smartphone.
MH146 from Melbourne will depart at 8.55am to reach Kuala Lumpur at 2.15pm, with the return leg MH147 running as an overnight flight leaving KL at 7.50pm to arrive in Melbourne at 6.45am the next day.
The current MH148/149 service will shift from an A330 to a Boeing 777-200.
Melbourne is Australia’s largest market for travel to and from Malaysia, accounting for 32 per cent of total travel between Australia and Malaysia with more than 350,000 passengers annually.

Very true, DaveK.
It is interesting that MAS is putting another A330 onto the Melbourne route.
Maybe this is the first step for, hopefully, sometime in the future a MAS A380 in AUstralia perhaps??

What is the 777-200 economy like, we are book on MH-148 in December which is now an old 777-200, should we change to the new earlier flight on a new a330-300??

I have flown on both, and while the 777 economy is decent, the new a330 is much better and one of the best a330 economies that I have flown. The toilets are huge!
