The new Star Alliance lounges coming to New York JFK
Massive Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines lounges will open this year at JFK.
Business class travellers and frequent flyers on a score of Star Alliance airlines can look forward to a new lounge experience at New York’s JFK airport this year.
The Lufthansa Group of airlines – Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines – will relocate from JFK T1 to Terminal 6, which is undergoing a USD$4.2 billion redevelopment.
There’ll be Lufthansa Business and Lufthansa Senator lounges, and potentially a Lufthansa First lounge.
Those lounges will be shared by Star Alliance siblings ANA and Air Canada, which are also shifting to T6 from their current home at T7.
An escalator from the departures level will whisk travellers directly up to the Lufthansa lounge precinct.
They’ll be the largest lounges at T6, spread over a massive 36,0000ft2 (3,340m2) footprint, and travellers will enjoy direct boarding to three of the terminal’s ten departure gates.
The lounges will have the same fresh look as the Lufthansa lounges opened in 2025 Newark Liberty International Airport, combining a warmer ambience with subtle style cues drawn from the airline’s Allegris cabins.
Expect the new Skyline Bar concept to take centre stage, pouring everything from barista-pulled coffee to cocktails, wine and local craft beers, while a bistro serves up seasonal dishes made with fresh regional ingredients.
And if Lufthansa foregoes a dedicated first class lounge, we expect to see – as is the case at Newark – a private dining area for first class passengers and HON Circle members, with an à la carte menu, premium wines and Champagne.
In the second half of 2026, Turkish Airlines will open a ‘state-of-the-art’ lounge at Terminal 1 – or “The New Terminal One”, as JFK T1 styles itself – for its own flights and those of its T1 Star Alliance siblings including Air China, Air New Zealand, EVA Air and LOT Polish Airlines.
The New Terminal One is a mega-terminal emerging from the sites of T1, T2 and the former Terminal 3 – the majestic Pan American terminal demolished in 2014.
At 11,000ft2 (1,020m2), this will be twice the size of Turkish Airlines’ lounge at the existing Terminal 1, welcoming business class passengers and Star Alliance Gold-grade frequent flyers with expansive views of the airfield.
Turkish Airlines has commandeered a prime location with time-saving direct boarding access from the lounge onto the awaiting Turkish Airlines plane, rather than travellers having to re-enter the main part of the terminal and find their way to the departure gate.
