Oman Air joins the Oneworld airline alliance
This mid-sized airline punches above its weight for value.
Oman Air today joins the Oneworld alliance as its 15th member, following in the footsteps of Fiji Airways and with Hawaiian Airlines expected to follow in 2026.
Oman Air is the flag carrier of Gulf state Oman, which sits just below the UAE and flies across the Middle East and into Europe, Asia and India – a growing network which from this week includes Amsterdam and potentially Singapore.
Oneworld CEO Nat Pieper said Oman Air’s membership “brings valuable strategic reach and award-winning product and service to the alliance.”
“This partnership opens up exciting new connections for our customers, particularly across the Gulf and South Asia, and reinforces Oneworld’s position as the premium alliance for international travellers.”
Oman Air’s Oneworld membership will unlock earn-and-burn potential for frequent flyers across all Oneworld member airlines, plus reciprocal status benefits aligned to Oman Air’s Sindbad loyalty program.

At the time of writing, Oman Air has only two elite Sindbad tiers:
- Sindbad Silver aligns with Oneworld Ruby
- Sindbad Gold aligns with Oneworld Sapphire
Hwoever, Oman Air will be adding a third Sindbad Platinum status tier – equivalent to Oneworld Emerald status – before the year is out.
Key benefits for the new highest-level Sindbad tier will include access to Oman Air’s flagship first class lounge at Muscat alongside “ancillary discounts” when purchasing additional Oman Air products or services.
This will be part of “an enhancement of the program to be rolled out in the third-fourth quarter of 2025, which will take our proposition to the level of many of those (airlines) that we will now be working with the Oneworld environment," said Oman Air Chief Commercial Office Mike Rutter.
“It will be a complete refresh of our loyalty program... all programs need a refresh over time, and from our perspective, ours is overdue," Rutter told Executive Traveller during a media briefing to mark Oman Air’s Oneworld membership.
Rutter added that this reboot would involve Sindbad adopting a new rewards currency “which will have wider use than the currency within the current system."
Meanwhile, the Muscat-based airline would “have some fun growing again” as more aircraft joined the fleet, including new Boeing 787s, Oman Air CEO Con Korfiatis told Executive Traveller.
“But we’re not going to be insane about (growth)... we’ll be pragmatic and rely on the good relationships we're building through Oneworld and a couple of other key partnerships that we have, to deliver that global platform through our alliances.”

Oman Air is one of the best airlines I've flown. The Business Class is excellent, Muscat is a great airport, and the entire experience was very smooth. The only downside was needing three flights to Europe from Australia, and having to connect via Malaysian, but I would still fly them again.
