Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club members will automatically retain their status through to December 2022, giving them even more opportunities to enjoy top-tier travel perks with not only Qatar Airways but all Oneworld airlines, including Qantas.
This is the third status extension granted to Qatar's Silver, Gold and Platinum Privilege Club cardholders since March 2020 due to the ongoing impact of the Covid pandemic.
The generous extension also encompasses those who applied for Qatar Airways' popular status match promotion in May-June 2020, which targeted members of rival frequent flyer programs including Virgin Australia Velocity.
Uncertainty over Virgin's future at that time sparked a flood of Velocity Gold and Platinum members adding the equivalent Privilege Club card to their wallet or purse.
Digital membership cards in the Qatar Airways app will continue to show the member’s current status expiry date for the time being, but once that passes, the app will be updated to reflect a December 31 2022 expiration.
In addition, Qatar Airways has reduced the number of Qmiles required to book award flights by up to 49% and extended the validity of Qmiles so that every time a member earns or spends Qmiles, their total account balance is valid for an additional 36 months.
“Our Privilege Club members are very important to us and we want to continue to be there for them,” says Thierry Antinori, Qatar Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer.
“That is why we are announcing today our latest tier extension as one of the many steps that Privilege Club has taken over the last year to honour the loyalty of our valued members as we navigate these difficult times together.”
