Singapore Airlines is boosting seats between Adelaide to Singapore from later this month, with its planned switch from an Airbus A350 to a Boeing 787 – originally pencilled in for March 31 2024 – moving forward a full five months to October 29.

From Adelaide, SQ278 sees wheels up at 10:30am and wheels down at Singapore’s Changi Airport at 3:10pm.

On the return, SQ279 from Singapore to Adelaide takes wing at 11:40pm, arriving in Adelaide at 9:05am the following morning.

Though fitted with the same regional business class as the A350, the Dreamliner has less lie-flat seats in its premium cabin: 36 versus 40. Travellers can of course look forward to the same celebratory menu from chef Matt Moran.

The lie-flat bed will be very handy on those overnight runs.

On top, the Star Alliance member is also introducing an additional four Singapore-Adelaide flights per week between December 2 and January 21, 2024, on the Airbus A350.

  • The evening flight SQ276 from Adelaide will depart every Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday at 6:35pm, landing in Singapore at 10:55pm.
  • SQ277 from Singapore to Adelaide departs those same four days at 8:05am, arriving in the City of Churches at 5:20pm.

Business class passengers and KrisFlyer status holders bound from Adelaide enjoy access to the Plaza Premium Lounge ahead of the flight, with the freshly-opened hangout offering barista coffee, bar service and buffet dining.

And in Changi, the flagship SilverKris business lounge, which sits on the upper level of Terminal 3 and has an incredibly spacious feel, with four distinct seating zones and an impressive dining setup infused with flavours from across Asia.

Singapore Airlines has a number of Australian changes in the works between November 2023 and April 2024, including an extra 20 flights a week between Perth, Melbourne, Darwin and Singapore.

These numbers are incorrect.

The regional A350 has 40 business class seats, the 787 has 36.

There are more economy seats though.

Doubt too many people will be in the Plaza Premium lounge for the PM flight, their hours are 0800-1200, or 0800-1300 depending on the day.
