Coming soon: use Qantas Points to book Hawaiian Airlines
Hawaiian Airlines joins the Qantas partner network with Classic Reward seats in both economy and business class.

Frequent flyers will soon be able to use their Qantas Points to snare a seat on Hawaiian Airlines at low Classic Reward rates.
Qantas this week confirmed that beginning 1 October, an estimated 800,000 seats per year on Hawaiian Airlines – across both the business and economy cabins – would be made available to book with Qantas Points.
“We now have partnerships with over 45 airlines, giving members greater flexibility and choice in how they want to be rewarded,” says Qantas Loyalty CEO Andrew Glance.
Qantas’ partner play is all about unlocking “more opportunities for our members to use their points to book that dream overseas trip.”
Hawaiian Airlines is expected to join the Oneworld alliance in 2026, but Qantas is rolling out this bespoke partnership in advance in the same way as it has for Oman Air, which will join Oneworld on 30 June 2025.
Hawaiian Airlines is expected to sit on Qantas’ main Partner Classic Flight Reward table, although Qantas says the number of points needed for those reward bookings will increase “by up to 20%” from August 2025.
(This is part of a broader set of changes to the Qantas loyalty program which we’ve explained here.)
Based on the current Partner Classic Reward rates for Sydney-Honolulu, you’ll be looking at
- 37,800 Qantas Points for Hawaiian Airlines’ economy
- 90,000 Qantas Points for Hawaiian Airlines’ business class
If you’re planning to fly through to the US mainland, which you’ll enter as a domestic traveller having cleared immigration during your Honolulu stopover), Hawaiian Airlines reaches 16 major cities.
As an example, here are the expected Partner Classic Reward rates for Sydney-Honolulu-Las Vegas:
- 50,300 Qantas Points for Hawaiian Airlines’ economy
- 119,200 Qantas Points for Hawaiian Airlines’ business class
By the time those flights are available through Qantas in October the revised Partner Classic Reward rates will be in effect, so you can probably add another 15-20% to the figures listed above just to be on the safe side.

800,000 seats per year across business and economy actually means 799,990 in Economy and 10 in business which include multiple sectors in economy.

Got more chance with getting a seat on Hawaiian than Qantas I suspect.

Considering there are currently multiple international routes with not one Premium cabin Classic Reward seat available for the next 12 months….I won’t hold my breath.

Lets looks at Qantas figures - 800,000 seats per year on HA available for use of qantas points .
I can accept that there could that many seats available but I'm guessing those seats are also available to other partners and One World members.
Even then , will Hawaiian release reward seats to QFF. Not always the case , Qatar have long since ceased releasing award seats to qantas flyers - but there are clearly plenty available as you can score them via Virgin. Try and score American Airlines or Alaska domestic first seats with QFF points - don't bother nil available!
QFF seems to be clutching at the last few remaining "straws" in this latest move - I thinks its days are numbered - may soon enough end up like Qantas's international premium class seats - gone!

It's impossible to get excited about this announcement by Qantas when they continue to devalue their points. It will take a decade to accrue enough points, just for an economy fare.

Overall I think the FF program changes are positive. I have just booked an incredible return trip Sydney to Europe at the height of their summer with an Asian stop-over in each direction for July/August mixed First/Business on Qantas, BA, Emirates and Cathay on classic rewards and all I have paid is just over $2k in taxes. Amazing.

Wow, that's amazing -- how did you do that?! Did you book through the Qantas website? Which airlines on which sectors.
