Thai trims Melbourne-Bangkok flights in February and March

IN BRIEF | If you're planning flights on Thai Airways between Melbourne and Bangkok next February or March, check your ticket dates -- your flight may be among those axed by Thai.

From 1 February to 24 March 2012, the now-daily Melbourne-Bangkok flight TG462 -- departing Melbourne at 0030, reaching Bangkok at 0540 -- won't run on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Similarly, Bangkok-Melbourne service TG461 (out of Bangkok at 0810, arriving in Melbourne at 2120) won't run on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The shift will leave Thai travellers with only one daily service: TG466 Melbourne to Bangkok (departing at 1505) and TG465 on the return leg (leaving Bangkok at 0015, arriving in Melbourne at 1325).

You can expect these flights to be more full than usual on the days when the second flight isn't running.

And with Bangkok a major hub for Thai Airways and other Star Alliance airlines heading to Europe and Asia, you may need to shift around your Kangaroo Route transit or Asian connections too.
