Qantas eyes non-stop Boeing 787 flights to Paris, Rome, Berlin
Apr 27, 2017, 11:45 AMFCO? Doubtful. Not much premium traffic there and zero connection opportunities on that end. The Italian economy isn't performing so don't see this doing well. CDG is a maybe, but again there isn't much connecting opportunity there as CDG is a Sky Team hub. TXL? Strange choice. Yes, it's a hub fo...

Alitalia goes low-cost in Europe, premium on international routes
Mar 19, 2017, 10:32 PMThe latest chapter in a decades long saga to keep Alitalia flying. The low cost model they are adopting for short and medium haul (intra-Europe) is in response to Ryanair which overtook AZ years ago inside Italy and continues to grab market share. On Long Haul, AZ has revamped the offering substa...

I used the Polaris lounge at ORD a few weeks ago and found it to be a meaningful improvement over the United Club format, including the renovated United Clubs that already sport the new United look and feel. May 12, 2016, 11:40 AMI flew QF11 on the SYD-LAX-JFK routing in January and the LAX-JFK leg was on the 747-400, named "Gosford" which on that day had operated BNE-LAX. Qantas Economy seats upstairs on a380
Aug 18, 2016, 11:27 AMI travelled on the QF11 service from SYD to JFK via LAX and sat in 32A on the A380 leg operating the SYD-LAX segment. The pluses here are the small Economy Class cabin, slightly more personalized service from the crew (one of the nicer flight attendants even brought us some snacks from Premium Ec...

Apr 28, 2016, 11:06 AMIf you're flying in Business First, you should be able to access the primary lounge that United use at SYD or MEL, which I believe is the NZ lounge. On the LAX to Australia segment, again, if in Business First, then skip the Terminal 7/8 United Clubs (they are truly awful) and use the Star Allian...

Apr 15, 2016, 10:07 PMWith United Airlines having recently switched to an all B787-9 service to Australia (LAX/SFO-SYD and LAX-MEL which already was 787-9) what has been traveller's experiences on these changed services? Am planning a return to SYD for November and debating flying UA again vs a return on QF.
