A great 'behind the scenes' story, Chris. I really like the new bar design and its seating. Very interesting to learn that Emirates were not sure at first that a bar on the A380 would actually work and make commercial sense, and now it has become a unique part of the EK A380 experience.

Qantas often closes its business lounges at some point around the Christmas to New Year period, they do cleaning but also any maintenance which can't be done when the lounge is in use. Also of course there is less 'premium travel' during that period so closing the business lounge can reduce staff...

This is a smart move to keep LTGs in the fold. I could think of a lot more benefits which QF could offer but the general concept, of addressing this nether region between LTG and LTP as well as rewarding overall loyalty such as being a consistent Platinum, is a very good start.

Quick notes from my visit to the new SIN F lounge yesterday. It got packed really fast! I arrived early because I read here that the lounge was open, thanks ET for always being on top of the news! It was almost empty so I had ample time to wander around. Really like the style and furnishings. Nes...

A bunch of JQ flights from Singapore into India, maybe I can see that working, and maybe even JQ direct from SYD and MEL, but I can't see a premium airline like Qantas being able to support daily non-stop flights to anywhere in India.

This sounds like a great trip, and it's a good example of when Oneworld lounge access based on your frequent flyer status comes in so handy! My advice would be:* Melbourne: Qantas first lounge. No contest!* Narita: JAL first class lounge. This has recently been renovated, I have heard it can get ...

As mentioned, Qantas stopped flying to Dubai last year when it switched back to Singapore. For Oneworld I'd suggest Sri Lankan ex-Melbourne or Cathay Pacific via HKG.

I don't think there'd be the numbers to support a dedicated Qantas lounge, and space is already very tight at SFO's international terminal. BA will have its refurbished SFO lounge open at the end of this year and I'd like to think that Qantas will use this like it did in the past, because it offe...
