    I hope not! Not sure if you've flown BA recently - their "Club Europe" product is pretty awful in terms of food and service. The publicity photos look nice but will have to wait and see what this "upgrade" is like in practice.

    New blood is definitely required at VA. As written in the SMH:"Virgin's total rate of return to shareholders - including dividends and share-price gains - during Mr Borghetti's tenure sits at -55 per cent. That compares to +35 per cent for the ASX200 and +140 per cent at rival Qantas."

    Totally agree - whilst I agree that restricting access to people flying JQ domestic sectors, this shouldn't apply to OWE. Under Oneworld rules, QF would have to create a "fake" First lounge (like BA at LHR T5 and QR at DOH) if they want to lock OWE out of the existing First lounge in SYD. Anyway...

    Yes, you can access the QF First Lounge at MEL flying JAL. The best lounge options as a QF Platinum/oneworld Emerald would probably be the JAL First Class Lounge in the Main Building at NRT and the CX First Class Lounge at LHR if flying from T3 or BA First Lounge if flying from T5.

    As mentioned, no additional screening in HK but still at BKK - just flew on QF24 from BKK two days ago and bags were checked at the gate.

According to oneworld rules, only Emerald, Sapphire and First Class passengers are able to bring a guest also travelling on a oneworld operated and marketed flight into lounges.
