While I completley understand the neccecity of retiring the 747s it does sadden me greatly as they still remain my favourite plane :(

The other option I had when booking was the 6:00AM flight out of Perth (EK425), which had a much shorter layover in Dubai and got into Amsterdam the same night. I didn't end up booking it however because I felt that two long daytime flights with no sleep would be way too boring...

From what I gather only 2(?) Qantas flights actually operate to Heathrow, neither of which works time wise when connecting in Dubai to Perth, meaning that I have to go on one of the plethora of Emirates flights to Heathrow.. My flights however are QF numbers, yet not QF operated so I reckon...

Ah okay I didn't realise I got access to the AA lounge. I was looking for a Qantas lounge in T3 of Heathrow and wasn't getting anywhere. Makes sense now. I don't mind the AA lounge being basic as long as the Dubai one is good as I think I've got between 1am and 8:20am there.. Do you think it's go...
