• 17hrs in 30" pitch in economy (where the majority of flyers sit). Not sure about that. I'm all for ultra-long-haul flights but it needs an ultra-long-haul product and service to match - especially if they are charging a premium fare in all classes (eg QF said their non-stop SYD-NYC would attract ...

  • How important is priority boarding?

    Jul 01, 2019, 03:19 PM

Australia is not so bad on the "overcrowded overhead bin space", but, as someone who recently relocated to the States, it's a major issue here and a serious dog fight to find any room for even a smaller backpack on the majority of flights. So I find priority boarding is a blessing, perhaps necess...

  • What a great move - it was obvious as a BNE-PER flyer for work that the 330 would not sustain on that route. J was always less than half full, although Y was often full. I knew it would disappear some day and this sounds like a great choice for VA. More what the 330 was designed for also.

  • I didn't realise the EY 773 had the old style J class seat? That's a shame; although still comfortable, just doesn't compare to the Business Studio.

Has any changes been made in economy? Or just business and premium?

  • As a frequent AU-US flyer, I have also given up on Velocity. With close to 1m points and Platinum for 6-years running, flying mainly the BNE-LAX route for many years now, I've scored one biz seat using points (and that was 3-years ago) and one Prem Y seat using points (only available one-way 2-ye...

  • If travelling solo, choose a window seat if able, but ensure it's one actually against the window as it's more private. The window seats that are exposed to the aisle are not that private, but the true window seats feels more suite like as the row behind you has their foot console blocking the ai...

  • If they had three rows of Space+, then they could potentially leave Platinums to row 3 for free as it currently is and sell the other two rows only. That would leave it the same as it is today for row 3, except Platinums could purchase row 4 or 5 if they chose, which I would if row 3 was not avai...

  • They do have a small IFE box under every second seat, but nothing too limiting. you can actually rest your foot on top of the edge for a different position - which after 13 hours is welcomed :) Last Nov I paid $145 each way for their new Space+ economy section......let me say, that extra leg...

  • I've only experienced the new VA Prem to LAX but they have certainly upgraded the experience to be more aligned with their business class service than an 'improved' economy service. The seats are new (as they are on NZ) with a small dedicated cabin and a standup pantry style self-serve bar in the...
