The complete guide to Woolworths' Everyday Rewards

Formerly known as Woolworths Rewards, Everyday Rewards gives you the ability to earn points when shopping at participating stores, and then turn your balance into Qantas Frequent Flyer points or reduce your grocery bill at the checkout.

With some patience and smart usage of Woolworths' offers, it's possible to rack up enough Qantas Points for a short domestic flight or upgrade each year. Over the longer term, Everyday Rewards can be a valuable asset in keeping your Qantas Points balance topped up.

Here's everything you need to know about the Everyday Rewards program.

What is Woolworths' Everyday Rewards?

The Everyday Rewards loyalty program offers points when you shop at participating Woolworths Group stores.

For every 2,000 Everyday Rewards points earned, you're eligible for a serve of Qantas Points or a discount at the checkout.

The program is available across Australia – including in Tasmania, where the state's Frequent Shopper Club has been phased out.

Where do I earn Everyday Rewards points?

Participating stores include Woolworths supermarkets, BWS and Big W, plus most Caltex, Caltex Woolworths and Ampol fuel outlets.

Points can be earned on most purchases, though a few exclusions do apply – primarily on things like smoking products, gift cards, mobile recharges and lottery purchases.

How many Everyday Rewards points can I earn?

You'll earn 1 Everyday Rewards point per $1 spent on eligible products at participating stores. There's no limit to the number of points you can earn.

Of course, this means it's a fairly slow journey to reach the 2,000-point threshold for a reward, as you'll need to spend at least $2,000.

What are Everyday Rewards booster offers?

One not-so-secret strategy to boost your Everyday Rewards balance is by taking advantage of special offers which are periodically sent out to members.

These promos typically reward you with thousands of Everyday Rewards points, which would otherwise take much more time and expense to earn the usual way.

For example, one particular promotion dangles a 6,000-point carrot. The stick? Spend $30 in one week, $40 in the next and $50 in the third week – all easily achievable.

Another type of offer might be for a multiplier, such as 5x bonus points on your total shop if you spend $10 on fresh fruit and vegetables – once again, easily achievable and if you were doing a family shop of $200, that would be another 1,000 Everyday Rewards points.

These types of offers tend to be open for any member – just type in your membership number to activate.

Do Everyday Rewards points expire?

Your Everyday Rewards points won't expire as long as you keep your account active. This means that you must scan your card in-store or use it online at least once every 18 months, which is a fairly generous policy.

How do I spend Everyday Rewards points?

It's quite simple to redeem Everyday Rewards points as there are only two options – transfer to Qantas Frequent Flyer or get a discount off your shop.

To choose, you'll need to go to the Everyday Rewards login page and sign in to your account.

The dashboard will show you what your current reward option is. To change this, look for 'My Account' in the top right and then go to 'Redemption Settings'.

Next, select your chosen reward option and confirm you would like to switch. All reward options are redeemed automatically when you reach 2,000 Everyday Rewards points.

Which Everyday Rewards benefit should I choose?

This choice falls entirely up to you and your current goals. Not travelling much in the future and buying groceries a lot? 'Automatic Savings' isn't a shabby option if you want a simple and fixed-rate reward.

But for those with some patience and flexibility, going for Qantas Points can definitely be the more interesting and rewarding option. It's another not-so-secret strategy for those in the know – swapping your Qantas Points for great-value Classic Reward seats or upgrades.

How much is an Everyday Rewards point worth?

The value of an Everyday Rewards point is at least 0.5 cents, or $5 for 1,000 Everyday Rewards points. This number comes from the 'Automatic Savings' option, being $10 per 2,000 Everyday Rewards points accumulated.

You can get much higher value out of your Everyday Rewards points if you transfer them to Qantas Frequent Flyer and put them towards a reward flight. The current transfer rate is 2,000 EDR points to 1,000 Qantas Points.

When it comes time to book that flight, here's an insight into the popular Sydney-Melbourne domestic route:

Just 8,000 Qantas Points (plus $38 taxes and charges) nets you an Economy Classic Reward worth at least $195 – for reference, that's transferred from 16,000 Everyday Rewards points, which would alternatively give you $80 off at the checkout.

Splurging 18,400 Qantas Points (plus fees and taxes) would land you a business class ticket which, in this example, would otherwise cost $922 in cash. This is equivalent to 38,000 Everyday Rewards points, worth just $190 at the checkout.

Without getting too deep into the numbers, this graph shows the relative value per Everyday Rewards point when you use them for Automatic Savings (left), or the two Qantas examples mentioned above (centre and right).

It's easy to visualise how transferring Everyday Rewards points to Qantas Frequent Flyer can get you a lot more value in flights, compared to getting a discount at the checkout.

Does Everyday Rewards have an app?

Yes, the standalone Everyday Rewards app was released in May 2020. It's a useful app that keeps track of your points balance, current offers and even the e-receipts of shops. You can download the app at the App Store for iOS or Google Play for Android.

Do I need an Everyday Rewards card?

When you initially sign up, you'll receive an Everyday Rewards card. But with the advent of mobile wallets and apps, you don't need to carry it around anymore.

If you have the Everyday Rewards app installed and signed-in, then you can easily find the barcode to scan under 'Cards'. But you can also add a card to your Apple Wallet or Google Pay account as well – follow the prompts such as 'save to phone'.

Those with NFC-enabled phones can simply tap their device against the EFTPOS terminal to add their Everyday Rewards membership to the transaction.

If you do misplace your physical Everyday Rewards card and want to order another one, you can do so under 'Cards and Accounts'.
