Double Status Credit

Hi all,

I’m currently a Gold QFF and 250 status credit away from Plat, I have till June 30 before I drop back down. I’ve booked a double status credit flight on the 18th June returning 26th giving me enough status credit (with double status) to get Plat. I read that Qantas can take up to 30 days to credit the double status. Would I still make Plat in this instance ?

I wouldn't count on the bonus credits. On a number of occasions mine have credited through after my membership reset date even when the travel has taken place before hand. I've never taken it up with them because I've always been over the required number of SCs and I'm usually happy for the bonus credits to be counted in the next year.

I think the last DSC promotion advertised wait times of up to 8 weeks. Mine have all credited through in the 4-6 weeks range so far. If you really want Plat, I'd book other travel. If you're prepared to risk it I wouldn't be afraid to call them up and argue the toss if the double credits don't make it in time.

I recently flew several DSC eligible segments and the regular SC were posted within 24 hrs and the DSC within the next 36 so my experience was pretty good. This was a mix of domestic & intl all QF flights so no reason to think yours wouldn’t be credited as quickly. Good luck!

Better to at least be seen to be pro-active and help QFF avoid embarrassment, by which I mean call upon your return and ask them to note on your file that you've earned the points (giving reservation code, etc.). That way, when the CRM person is reviewing your case, they'll see a note and can check for themselves that you have the required SC's pending. Did it for the wife with Virgin, they obliged and made in all painless, hopefully QFF will do the same.

The double status credits post with an effective date of your departure date, if they end up posting after your year end they will still be counted in the previous year and your status will update accordingly.
