I'm flying Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy to UK next month. Has anyone had any previous experience with Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I've just returned from a SYD-HKG-LHR return with VS in PE. What would you like to know? :-p

I have flown VS to HKG in PE and it was fablious. Good service and good food. Not sure if this service is avaiable from Sydney but you can pay a small premium and get Business Class Privlidges.

Hey Martin, they do indeed operate all the way to/from Sydney.

Joey, as said, just returned from a trip to London in PE. Service was great - all 4x legs, seats are comfortable (like Aus domestic biz class), and comfy / leather with good seat pitch. The only down-fall with Virgin Atlantic to London is the IFE is adequate, but dated.

if you're VA Gold / Platinum, then you get access to LHR & HKG Clubhouse - which is brilliant! You're waited on hand and foot with food and drink. Enjoy.

The audio/visual is very poor in quality & choice. Premium Economy was cheaper than the others but not as good as Qantas but we got to London & back ,48 hours , ok.

I was recently on QF flight across the Pacific in PE. Call me crazy but I found the experience to be very very marginally better than in Economy. Certainly not worth the extra $. The only thing that kept me satiated was the thought of earning extra points!

I'm surprised because I've always found pe to be so much better than economy on QF. what were the major reasons why you thought it was only marginally better?

Hi 7OD,

I flew SIN/MEL in PE (when the A380 was flown on that sector) and thought it was nice  but was expecting a little bit more for the LAX/MEL sector.

Seat: While it was slightly better in PE the leg rest I didn't care too much for. A hammock style leg rest (like in economy) in PE would have been better as it would allow you to slide into your seat in "sleep mode" and have your legs supported.  I'm not too big and could very easily feel comfortable in an economy seat anyway.

Food: While I enjoyed the presentation and metal cutlery, I would have preferred two mains which were not stodgy stew-like dishes. Not impressed that pudding was a mousse cup from economy. Wouldn't kill you to have ice cream or some chocolates.

Cabin environment: I found the economy cabin on the upper deck to be more cosy than the PE cabin. It has probably something to do with the tapering effect being at the back of the aircraft.

All in all, if not for the extra points I would not have spent the money flying PE.

Get a new TravelComfort travel pillow, the one that supports your head on each side, it is awesome.  It is small and comapct to carry as well.
