No sure if anyone is experiencing the same frustration, however bit of a rant to follow! I did try to send the following to Qantas Directly, however they no longer have anything that even resembles a complaint department and nor do I fell like writing a letter.

I’m really struggling to see any benefit in QFF currently, I’ve gone looking to blow some points on (2) return AUS to USA in B/Class to only to be told “Sorry your B/Class seat between SYD / LAX will be in Econ”; “Sorry your B/Class seat between BNE / LAX will be in Econ”; “Sorry your B/Class seat between MEL / LAX will be in Econ”; “Sorry your B/Class seat between SYD / DFW will be in Econ”

Qantas what’s going on!

If the seats are not available, please don’t show them as available with a stupid question mark.

If anyone has any ideas, please feel free but I’m getting a feeling that QFF has no value apart from shopping on their web site.

This is exactly what QF wants you and everyone else to say.
What's your travel dates? I might able to help.

The only site QF execs monitor is their bank balance. Especially AJ. Cynical but not entirely off the mark.

Yes that is annoying... but the probability is that there is no J seats to LAX/DFW on those dates. The way the system is set-up is stupid, because when there is no J between Aus-USA it seems to provide availability for SYD - LAX (via MEL/BNE) with the SYD-MEL/BNE in J and BNE/MEL - LAX in Y. It simply shouldn't.

When I used points to book seats J to the USA (for Sep/Nov this year) I booked last month and had to be slightly flexible with the dates.

I see your based in Jakarta... is there availbility with CX from HK? They have a great J. Or Malaysian from KL (although, I'm not sure how easy it is to use QFF on Malaysian... I've seen Cathay come up as an option, but not Malaysian).

I agree. If you're based in CGK, you're much better off flying via HKG on CX for America (MH is hopeless for America). Heck, even if you're flying ex-Australia you might be able to make via HKG work better, given the limited award inventory on the LAX and DFW services run by QF.

As for QF complaints, you can do it via:

qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/customer-care-feedback-form/global/en  (just put the www. in front)

Althought, whenever I have had a real issue, I have written to AJ's office as it has been more effective.

It's really rewarding to put in a complaint and get back a standard form response that a) doesn't fit the facts or b) doesn't address the issue or c) treats you like a moron or d) all of the above.

Agreed - that is sometimes my experience with QF complaints. However, has not been my experience with AJ's office -  had complaint responded to... very quickly.

The system is ridiculous and I've learned to ignore anything with a question mark next to it because it's an offer of something less than what I want and requested.   A real joke, which happens quite a bit, is that on a request for say SYD-LAX in J you get offers like SYD-CBR, CBR-MEL, MEL-LAX (?your flight to LAX will be in economy). Or even better, SYD-BNE, overnight stop, BNE-HKG, HKG-LAX (?your flight to HKG will be in economy, your flight to LAX will be in economy). Really useful. Am I right that only QF does this?

Muzz, have you tried checking for availability on Expertflyer. If you're looking to make a "Classic" redemption look for seat availability in U inventory for Business.

You will have to pay to use Expertflyer. There is a monthly or yearly option. However if you just want to do a search this one time, you can sign up for a Free trial. You will not need to put in your credit card details if memory serves me.
