Believe it or not, not everybody is an avgeek, or a bacongeek.

Damn, we'll have to scrub our plans to launch AusBT's sister site Australian Bacon Enthusiast :(

Considering each person only gets to vote once per comment it would be several some bodies down-voting.

Richard and SGB: The 'ratings' are a very simple upvote/downvote with one vote per person. Each user can upvote a comment once or downvote it once.

In a case like this I'd suggest that multiple readers have downvoted selected comments because they feel it's not a topic of relevance to a 'business traveller' website such as ours.

I do not care about that “voting” (too old for such stuff) , but it strongly seems to me that all those negative voting came from teenagers that only “wannabe business flyers” :-)))) Otherwise how one can explain that my post about “more like lounges than planes” attract even more negative voting than posts about planes? If you right then that particular post should be skyrocketed in positive voting!

Because not everybody agrees with you that it's "sad" to care more about business lounges than aviation.

Walk around any airport business lounge and ask any 50 people there if they care more about business lounges – access, food, drinks, facilities for working and relaxing, showers, quality of furnishings, cleaniness, service etc – than about 'aviation' (eg "Don't you wish modern aircraft had the personality and flair of a DC-8?").

I'll guarantee that at least 49 of them will say they care more about business lounges than DC-8s. Those people are AusBT readers and AusBT's target audience.

I'm absolutely floored that with all the bickering and downvoting going on that No One has commented on the free cigarettes that used to be handed out after take off!!!

Serge, I hear you loud and clear. There is an element here that are firm on destruction. I remember reading one particular post soon after I joined this site that said a 'pitch fork is used and they aim for the eyes'. Now I know what that person meant. I would have hoped that the few postings I have made which admitedly have a nostaglic touch to them, and which by the way have had huge participation follow ups, would have meant that they had been welcomed and well received. I'm sure this site is adult enough and generous enough to disguss the entire spectrum of business travel. If we are only interested on what's on the menu at the lounge so I can get fatter faster, that's a very sad day. Perhaps the Business carry on suits will need to have elasticated waists.

This isn't a defence of David and co - they are more than capable of looking after themselves - but to assert that AusBT and its readers are only interested in airline lounges and how deep they can get the snout in is a bit immature (immature might be a bit harsh but you're being harsh on AusBT).

I frequent here primarily because of the diversity of the business travel related content - technology reviews, telco/data plan reviews, credit card analysis, airline and cabin reviews, hotel reviews, loyalty program analysis, and even on-the-road fitness tips.

The list goes on...

The fact is I have to travel for work - I can choose to enjoy it and its experiences and seek to capitalise on this opportunity or I coud choose to see it as a chore and resent it. I choose the former. Many of the tips that I've picked up from this site have allowed me to earn more loyalty points - the vast majority of which I use to repay my family for putting up with my globe-trotting habits!

A small can of worns opened, an interesting debate and a greater understanding of ABT and its followers as a result.

I like a few others am fascinated by both all aspects of business travel and a strong (and indeed slightly nerdy) interest in civil aviation, but equally respect the prime aim of this blog and the purpose of ABT.

I have also flown extensively globally in all classes, though would love to have the opportunity again to be classified as a "wannabe teenager frequent flyer"

I would add that if I see a blog (item) which does not appeal, I simply chose not to read it and do not break out in a sweat. Equally ABT has the right not to allow publication of threads if deemed off track with the aim of the site, which I enjoy significantly.

“I simply chose not to read it”

Exactly my point – if you not interested in topic what is your motivation to vote down? Voting down to me means that you strongly disagree and believe that information given is extensively wrong. But then after voting down put down your opinion, otherwise why bother? So I have not got any better explanation that I already stated. And again it does not mean that it worry me somehow.

“Equally ABT has the right not to allow publication of threads if deemed off track”

Also agree 100%
