I am on QF12 from LAX-SYD boarding on the 25/1 and arriving on the 27/1 therefore missing Australia Day. I was wondering will there be any Australia Day celebrations onboard?

Poll: Will there be Australia Day celebrations onboard?

Surely this is a question best put directly to Qantas. Have you tried the airline's Facebook page or Twitter account?

Agree, though it's unlikely Qantas would reveal anything like this in advance! If you're looking for a celebratory flight I'd suggest booking something on Nov 16 in 2020!

If they did anything it would be pretty bogan stuff. You won't be missing anything fantastic.

Cabin crew wearing special Australia Day uniform designed by Martin Grant consisting of thongs, shorts and a singlet and serving Neil Perry meat pies made from kangaroo meat, dressed with 'seasonal' tomato source and decorated with a little Aussie flag toothpick. What more could any true blue Aussie ask for?

In the past I have flown back on QF108 departing on the 30th December and arriving back on New Years Day and apart from an announcement from the captain upon decent into Sydney and the crew coming through and offering those still awake with some champagne that was about it. Never travelled back over Aust Day, so can't give any specifics on this.

You forgot blasting out 'Waltzing Matilda' through the speakers non-stop from embarking to disembarking.

Qantas doesn't do celebrations on board. Not a thing.

If thongs are part of the national costume, seems curious that QF lounges have banned them :p

Beg to differ. I was onboard a domestic flight for their 80th birthday and it was champagne for everyone and a quite large, commemorative birthday chocolate (it was pretty nice from memory)...

Come on, this isn't VA. There will be a little chance to fly a party flight but if there is, no status upgrade will sent.

I've flown Easter Sunday and they had Malteser bunnies in both the lounge and on board.

Or they may dig up all of their old versions of "I Still Call Australia Home"

Closest you might get is Channel 9's Richard Wilkins doing an airport cross from LAX to the Today Show. Don't forget it's the week of 'G'day USA' and events in Los Angeles are fairly prominent. On board? Not so much ..
