Hi David et al,

I remember an old Ausbt article reporting that Singapore would have refurbished all their 777-300ER planes with the new biz/first class seating by September 2016.  Does anyone know whether this refurb program was completed?

My understanding is that it has been (but can't seem to place my hands on any article confirming).
The SIA website used to (circa mid 2015 when I last checked coz I was in the same boat!) list 4 seat maps for the 777-300ER.  It's now only listing 2 seat maps.

Both are showing J Class with 1-2-1 seating which I think confirms the upgrade because the former was 2-2-2???

No, SQ already installed 1-2-1 Business Class in 2006 when they took delivery of 777-300ER.

Hi,

All SQ's 77W are fully lie flat and not the regional sloping product. It is just that there are two types of fully Le flat with SQ, the older version from circa 2006 (same type as A380) and the brand new version, which is a couple of years old now. They are still going through the refurbishment program of the 77Ws and this product is not on the 380. The way to tell, is if there is premium economy for sale on the 77W flight,  then it is the newer refreshed version of the seat which is truly a huge improvement on the older version.  Finally, they also operate 777-300's which are not the ER Version and those DO have the regional sloper version in business.   So depending on which sectors you fly, check the 777 aircraft type carefully.

And if you can avoid it, don't book the older ones at all, they are uncomfortable.

Having just returned from Europe in PE on SQ where 1 leg was on a 'new' 773, I have to say it was the most uncomfortable flight we had. The other 3 were A388's that were a lot more comfy.

I think you mean 77W as the 773s do not have W seats.  Also the W seats on the 77W are an inch narrower than A380.  The worst W is on their A350s at 2-4-2 which is essentially the same seat width as Y in their A380s.  The A350s should've been 2-3-2.

Just flew MEL-SIN on 777-300ER with new for me business class seats.  Grey livery.  1.2.1 layout and I have to say it is the worst business class seat I've ever had on SQ.  Yes the bed is fully flat, laying across the bed, but in the seated position, I can touch the screen on the seat in front, and there is no front to back movement on the seat. The table arrangement is awful and unless you've a sylphlike frame, you cannot get the table into its square position. The opinion of the Stewardess of the plane was the same as mine, "terrible" as the galley has also been reduced in width she said and the crew cannot work as easily in it as in the older seat.

I took a few pictures to show the space and the lack of it for sitting and
 working.
