Hi Everyone,

Has anyone flown on the AA72/73 in business? What was good/bad? How is it for couples? For sleeping? Crew and food good? I understand AA swapped out their 777 to the more economical 789. We're flying in December and wondering how it compares to the well-reviewed 777.

Not flown it on the Pacific service, but flew AA48 DFW-CDG and AA49 CDG-DFW on AA's B787-9 a few weeks ago. Dallas to Paris nonstop was 10 hours and Paris-Dallas nonstop was 11 hours.

I'm not much of a B777-200/300/300ER fan, so enjoyed the B787-9 cabin. The crew was the same on both flights (two weeks apart) - highly attentive and receptive to service requests. Food was acceptable and would rate it as good (as opposed to brilliant). Certainly an enjoyable international flight and not representative of some of the shorter domestic USA flights.

We flew it LAX-AKL return recently. Much better than their odd 787-8 business cabin, all the seats face forward and they don’t shake.

As a couple I’d take a pair of the middle seats. The window seats are very private, better for solo travel. But avoid row 1, especially 1H on a night flight. The galley is noisey and the crew use the flat area in front of you as an extra work space.

The other way we were in 6L and 7L. Much better even though you’re kinda like two solo travelers.

The seats are the same origin as Qatar and Virgin The Business and are very good.
