I have used my Qantas American Express Ultimate card to purchase a couple of flights through Qantas recently. According to their rules:

"With the Qantas American Express Ultimate Card, you'll enjoy no cap on the amount of Qantas Points you can earn, no spend cap on your earn rate, plus we’ll transfer your points straight to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account each month.

· Earn 1.5 Qantas Points6 for every $1 spent on Card purchases, except spend at government bodies in Australia where you will earn 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent

· Earn 1 additional Qantas Point per $1 spent on selected Qantas products and services in Australia11

· No cap on earn rate. You’ll receive up to 2.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent, no matter how much you spend each month12"

I bought a ticket for $9278 charged to Qantas and received Base points = 9278*1.5 = 13917 but then the bonus points were 2021, not 9278.

On another flight booking and payment there were no bonus points posted.

I've lodged an enquiry with American Express for myself so this is a heads up to anyone else who might've been short changed

I've been using this card for years and have had never had a problem with the QF bonus points.

Hi just checking - are you sure you booked them through the Qantas *Australia* website?

In the past I have booked one way flights from NZ to Aus, and to do that the Qantas website forces you to book through the NZ website. In those cases I have not been credited the additional bonus point per dollar.

However when I have booked return overseas flights to and from Australia, hence booking through the *AUS* Qantas website, I've been credited with the bonus point.
It's a sneaky exclusion.

Similarly when booking flights through the Amex site with the bonus travel credit, there is no ability to claim the bonus point, even if the value of your flight is significantly over the value of your travel credit... which is disappointing.
