Double Status Credit promotions are aimed at regular Frequent Flyers, as they are prepared to pay full price in order to increase their Status Credit numbers. If the sale has just ended, and there is a price increase, that is an ideal opportunity to offer the Double Status Credits.
Are you sure that it was DSC? 50% bonus offers go out targeted, though sometimes DSC does too.
QF does do targeted offers sometimes and sometimes offers open to everyone. They do like to change up the dates from year to year so that you can't anticipate exactly when the offers are going to land.
I would hope an open to all DSC offer is made available at some stage this year but we'll have to wait and see.

I'm at 120. Plat. Was hoping for double. My year is 1/1 to 31/12 though. Trying to work out if I want to spend the extra $ to make P again this year as I won't be travelling as much...torn. AKL-DPS return in J would net 600SC with this promo for $2500.

Apparently QF sent out targeted DSC offer today via email. There was a post in the QF Points Hack FB Group page.

I suspect the emails will go on card level P1 first and hopefully down to at least gold
