I have a ticket with Qatar from Sydney to London. The first leg is on Qatar (first) to Doha, I then transfer to BA in first to London. Will I get access to the Qatar first class lounge ( Al Safwa), or because my second leg is on BA, only get access to the one world first lounge in Doha?

What does the Qatar first lounge rules say. As it is One World and both tickare first then probably yes but go online to double check.

Al Safwa lounge access is only available to Qatar First class passengers.

As far as I know, passengers arriving to Doha on QR flights in first class are also admitted.

That is definitely the case if you are connecting to another QR flight in business, but I would assume that connections to partner flights will also be OK.

Are you ticketed with BA or with QR?

Just checked with Qatar and the offical answer is those in Qatar First Class or Oneworld First Class are allowed access with no guests.

Currently the only oneworld airline (aside from QR) with first class from Doha is BA.

Henrus is correct.

Interestingly, under Oneworld's 'minimum standards', Oneworld first class passengers must be able to bring a guest into lounges, so Qatar gets around that by accepting such guests at its "First Class Lounge" in Doha - the Oneworld Emerald lounge - while reserving Al Safwa only for Qatar and Oneworld ticketed first class passengers.

(So, if you're flying first and have a guest, head to the "First Class Lounge" if you want to spend time together, and then if the actual first class flyer wants to use Al Safwa, they can do so on their own.)

Qatar Airways also lets you purchase access now into the First lounge. This topic is covered heavily in the FlyerTalk forums, if you want more info..

In April I flew Perth to Doha in Qatar First. Three hour transit then Qatar Business to Brussels.

No problems at all getting access to Al Safwa.

And what an absolutely fantastic lounge! Food was brilliant and cooked to order. Was too early in the morning to have a drink but the coffee was good. A great experience!
