Etihad Airways, Philippine Airlines ink partnership deal

Etihad Airways has added Philippine Airlines to its growing roster of partner airlines, inking an extensive deal covering codeshare flights, loyalty programs, airport lounge access, a Philippines domestic air pass and more.

The two flag carriers will lodge their respective EY and PR codes on each airline's flights between Abu Dhabi and Manila, which represents a combined total of 19 weekly flights between the two capitals.

Etihad Airways' EY code will also appear on Philippine Airlines flights from Manila to 20 destinations throughout the Philippines in the first phase, increasing to 28 domestic routes by year's end.

The airlines will also develop a "joint air pass scheme" allowing overseas visitors to purchase an international flight to Manila and up to three additional sectors on Philippine Airlines’ domestic network, for sale from September 1st 2014.

Members of Etihad Airways' Guest and Philippine Airlines Mabuhay Miles frequent flyer program will be able to earn and burn miles across both airlines, along with perks such as lounge access and priority check-in and boarding and baggage.

During September and October, double miles will be awarded to Etihad Guest members travelling on any Philippine Airlines flight and to Philippine Airlines Mabuhay Miles members travelling on Etihad Airways flights.

The agreement also extends the use of Etihad Airways premium lounges in Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow to PAL's business class travellers and Mabuhay Miles Million Miler, Premier Elite and Elite members when traveling on Philippine Airlines’ Manila-Abu Dhabi and Manila-London Heathrow flights.

This comes into effect from 1 August for the Abu Dhabi lounges and 1 November for London Heathrow.
