First photos: Virgin Australia's all-new Brisbane international lounge

Virgin Australia will open its own lounge at Brisbane Airport's international terminal for business class travellers and top-tier frequent flyers.

Dubbed My Lounge and operated by UK-based No1 Lounges – which will also take over Etihad's Sydney and Melbourne lounges, and open these to Virgin passengers – it will be located adjacent to Gate 77, towards the end of the terminal's northern concourse.

A spokesperson for Virgin Australia tells Australian Business Traveller that the new lounge is "due to open towards the end of November" in what was "previously a gate lounge that wasn’t utilised."

The lounge will be "specifically designed in the style of a loft apartment"...

... presented as a "relaxed contemporary environment... with seating for more than 100 guests."

Travellers can look forward to a dining area with a 'grazing menu of healthy and indulgent choices'...

... plus barista-pulled coffee and a bar.

There will also be a small working area...

... plus a games room, although it appears this will be more of a nook.

The lounge will be open to Virgin's business class passengers, Platinum and Gold members of the Velocity Frequent Flyer scheme plus members of the Virgin Australia Lounge program on Virgin flights to New Zealand, Los Angeles, Bali and the Pacific islands including Fiji.

The spokesman said that "Virgin Australia will have priority access to the lounge," implying that lounge operator No1 Lounges may also allow pay-in entry to travellers on other airlines. Australian Business Traveller has approached No1 Lounges for comment.

Sounds great! Can't wait to check it out...

though, the photos appear to be of a ready and completed lounge.. though the opening is still a month + away?
Any ideas as to why the wait?

Because it's not actually there yet! These are dummy pics that VA would have provided - like the hotels that show you the rooms before they're built!

They're photos of the No1's My Lounge in Gatwick.

Seems the My Lounge brand has been around since about 2014/15 over there. So these photos are more an indication of the expected style for Brisbane.

Sounds good for VA passengers, but I am struggling to picture an area big enough near gate 77 to put a lounge.

Is it under the Emirates lounge on the side wall the faces out towards the carpark/rail line (just to the left of the big TV with ABC on it)?

Otherwise my guess is as good as yours.

The location of the lounge near gate 77 might be on level two where the unused escalator is. Edihad prefers to stay with airnz lounge in BNE, which means and explains a lot! No expection on MY LOUNGE TBH.

I wonder if Amex Platinum Charge cardholders will get access to the international lounges...? I guess it doesn’t really matter due to access to Priority Pass lounges though anyway.

Looks good - I’m not overly impressed by the current Plaza Premium lounge. My usual VA flight to POM departs from Gate 26 - I hope they’ll be shuffling those around if the lounge is at Gate 77.

Actually ignore that - I’ve checked a map and the lounge is near the departure gate. Which is better than today.

"and the Pacific islands including Fiji". Yes, Fiji is a Pacific Island - why the need to single it out here?
