Qantas' Singapore and London business class lounges are once again open as the airline prepares to ramp up flights for the December/January holiday season.

Along with the rest of Qantas' international lounges, these were shuttered in March 2020 as the sweeping scope of the Covid pandemic became clear.

The Qantas International London Lounge (to give its full name) at Heathrow Terminal 3 is now open from 6am to 4pm and caters for the outwards flights of Qantas and its partner Emirates, along with Oneworld partner airlines.

And while Covid has put a crimp in some aspects of service, the à la carte dining room, downstairs gin bar and upstairs cocktail bar are all worth a visit.

Eligible travellers include business class and first class passengers; Qantas Frequent Flyer Gold, Platinum and Platinum One members (plus Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald equivalents); Emirates Skywards Gold and Platinum members; and Qantas Club card-holders.

The Qantas Singapore International Business Lounge at Singapore Changi Terminal 1 rolls out the welcome mat on a more truncated schedule of four hours before the departure of each Qantas flight, with the doors closing once that flight is wheels up. Access is along the same lines as for Qantas' London lounge.

Qantas says it plans to reopen the Singapore International First Lounge in early 2022 as demand returns on the once-popular Australia-Singapore routes, and certainly well before the red-tailed Airbus A380 resumes flying from Sydney to London via Singapore in July 2022.

I'm heading to SIN in early Jan.  Due to schedule reductions, the direct service to MEL on a Friday is a JQ 787 departing at 2130.  The QF A330 to SYD departs at 2030 so I expect the, even though I am flying J class on the only available service to MEL, I will be kicked out of the Lounge more than an hour before my flight.

Thats not a disaster considering you clear security at the gate in Singapore. You may have to hang around for 15 minutes.

Will there be another Oneworld Lounge you can get into? I realise the QR lounge is still closed but is the BA Lounge open?

The BA lounge is also closed. Before the Qantas lounge reopened Qantas was sending passengers to the SATS T1 lounge, not sure what Jetstar will do in this situation but you'd hope that Qantas would be willing to keep the lounge open just a bit longer for JQ passengers in this instance. But as has been noted above even if the Qantas lounge does close at 2030, you'd have to be at the gate gate for your Jetstar flight around 2100 anyway because of the need to go through security at the gate and then board for 2130 departure, so at worst you will have 30 minutes of non-lounge time, and that's not too bad and Changi is far from the worst place to have to spend 30 minutes in the terminal.

If you have an Amex Platinum card you'd get into the Plaza Premium lounge at T1, the only thing is that it's up at the top of the C gates, so if your JQ flight leaves from a D gate at the other side of T1, by the time you're tossed out of the Qantas lounge at 2030 and walk to the Plaza Premium lounge you might only have 15 minutes there before you have to begin walking back to the departure gate for your JQ flight. Honestly I wouldn't worry too much about any of this!

The London lounge is open from 0600-1400 with the Al a carte dining room open during Qantas flights.
