Your guide to Singapore Airlines’ HighFlyer Business Travel Programme

Do your employees frequently travel to Asia and beyond? If so, Singapore Airlines’ HighFlyer business travel programme may be able to save you money or help you earn greater rewards faster.

Free to join, perks range from preferential airfares to earning HighFlyer points, which can be used on future air travel or redeemed for rewards, ultimately saving the company money and making the journey more enjoyable for those on the road.

Whether you’re a large business, an SME or are just starting your own business endeavor, here’s what you need to know about Singapore Airlines’ HighFlyer business travel programme.

What is Singapore Airlines’ HighFlyer business travel programme?

The HighFlyer business travel programme is Singapore Airlines’ travel reward program for businesses. With it, companies earn points each time their employees take an eligible Singapore Airlines flight, which can then be used to save money on future air travel or redeemed for travel rewards.

It's also a way for seasoned corporate and business travellers to maximize their travel rewards, as they’ll earn HighFlyer points for the company’s account on top of the points they earn for their own KrisFlyer account.

Plus, it's open to businesses of any size, from freelancers with a business registration to SMEs and large multinational corporations. In Australia, all you need is your ABN and be registered with ASIC  to prove you’re a legitimate operation.

How to join Singapore Airlines’ HighFlyer business travel programme

With no fee to join or remain a member, anybody with a business registration number can sign up for the HighFlyer Business Travel Programme. To do so, simply visit the Singapore Airlines website and submit the online form via the ‘Enroll Now’ option.

As soon as you join, your company will be assigned its own HighFlyer account, which can be linked to flight reservations to begin earning HighFlyer points.

What are the different HighFlyer membership tiers?

HighFlyer has three tier levels – Silver, Gold and the invite-only Platinum – above the basic HighFlyer entry tier.

All Businesses participating in HighFlyer will initially be enrolled in the entry-level HighFlyer tier, with eligible businesses then being offered HighFlyer Silver, Gold or Platinum based on their yearly travel expenditure.

Here are the HighFlyer tiers, and what it takes to achieve them.

Tier Requirements
HighFlyer No minimum spend
HighFlyer Silver Businesses with a minimum yearly travel spend of AUD 50,000
HifgFlyer Gold Businesses with a minimum yearly travel spend of AUD 263,000
HifgFlyer Platinum By invitation only

Of course, as your business' travel expenses grow, your account will progress to a higher tier, opening up more chances to earn points and unlock travel rewards.

Further annual assessments will determine whether you remain at the same tier for next year or drop to a level more in line with your company’s travel spend in the preceding 12 months.

Just note, as Singapore Airlines operates the HighFlyer program in a variety of countries, the minimum travel spend may differ between countries. The information provided in this article is relevant only to Australian-registered businesses, so if your company is based elsewhere, contact Singapore airlines for details of the program relevant to your country.

How do I earn HighFlyer points?

Separate to the KrisFlyer Points and Status Credits earned by individual travellers, your company accrues its own balance of HighFlyer points based on its tier status.

Entry-level and HighFlyer Silver businesses will earn five HighFlyer points for every SGD $1 spent on eligible flights taken by any employee registered under the business’ HighFlyer account.

Once achieving HighFlyer Gold or Platinum status, your company will begin earning points at a higher rate of 6 points per SDG $1 spent on  qualifying flights – those being ones operated by Singapore Airlines, Scoot, Lufthansa and Swiss Airlines.

Just make sure there’s a SQ flight number on the service being taken and you’re all set.

Also note that not all eligible bookings earn points. Specifically, group bookings (G), economy Lite (V, K) fares, and award tickets are not eligible for points accrual, with economy Value (Q, N) tickets only earning points at a 50% rate.

How do I spend and redeem HighFlyer points?

HighFlyer points can be used to pay for air tickets on Singapore Airlines flights in full or partially (with the balance paid in cash). You just need a minimum of 1,050 HighFlyer points.

Your HighFlyer points are valid for 3 years, and can only be redeemed for bookings made online. However, they can be used to pay for all components of a ticket, including cabin upgrades, extra baggage allowance, and advance seat selection fees.

Planning a business trip to Singapore? You can trade in your HighFlyer points for lounge passes at Changi Airport at a cost of 5,000 HighFlyer points per lounge pass. This doesn’t include access to Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris Lounges though. Instead, you’ll receive a voucher valid for a 3-hour stay at the SATS Premier Lounge.

Companies with HighFlyer Silver, Gold or Platinum status can also reward their KrisFlyer Silver employees with a bump-up to KrisFlyer Gold, which comes with perks such as extra checked baggage allowance and access to the KrisFlyer Gold lounge at Changi.

If you have an eye on something else, points earned under the business account can be transferred to an individual’s KrisFlyer account (either yours or an employee’s) to spend on thousands of Singapore Airlines partners on the ground.

Just note that there’s a transfer limit of 30,000 HighFlyer Points per KrisFlyer account and a total of 150,000 KrisFlyer miles per calendar year; so it’s handy to be familiar with the other alternatives.

How easy is it to manage my HighFlyer account?

The Singapore Airlines HighFlyer corporate portal offers a range of online tools designed to help businesses manage all activity taken under their account, making it the one stop, self-service portal for account management.

Account administrators can make and track eligible flight bookings, grant and revoke employee access, review travel-related business expenses, check the company’s points balance and redeem points for rewards.

Other benefits of the Singapore Airlines HighFlyer Business Travel Programme

Once your business reaches HighFlyer Silver, your corporate travellers (and yourself) will be able to avail preferential corporate fares, saving more on every trip with upfront discounts whenever flying with Singapore Airlines and Scoot.

Also on the table for HighFlyer Gold members and above are a range of priority services, including priority reservation waitlist, priority airport standby and priority flight upgrades, among others.
