Chris, do you know if there is a cut-off date for the commencement of the 90 day challenge? I have a SQ flight booked for early January 2019 and the Star Alliance Gold perks would come in handy.

@Gordonaus1 You don't have to sign them up but by doing so you save $24 which will help to cover the cost of your luggage trolley and taxi to the airport. Probably won't take longer than 2 minutes to complete the online application.

That's good news for those VA Platinum and Gold members who are travelling with family and are only permitted one guest. Simply sign up the other adult to an Etihad membership ahead of the flight.

Interestingly, if you choose to pay with points it brings the EY options back into play and drops off the VS ones.

Note that as Gold you will only have access to the Al-Reem lounge. I've popped in a couple of times and it's always seemed busy and certainly not as relaxing as the full-fat Etihad lounges.

As per Tracie's reply - check in at T2 and then walk down to TBIT and go through security etc. It's only 2-3 minute walk.

No discernible improvement on the routes I have flown in the past two weeks. I flew BNE-MEL at 1655 hours yesterday and received a cookie. For a 2hr 20min flight at dinner time that's a pretty paltry offering.
