These are the perfect small ship cruises for every taste
Jan 12, 2024, 04:42 PMI did the inside passage with Holland America, so a large ship. I've since done river cruises, Yangtse in China, Mekong in Vietnam/Cambodia and Irrawaddy in Myanmar. I'd hoped to cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest last year, but health issues got in the way. I prefer the smaller ...

This year, Australians will be charged a fee to enter the UK
Jan 12, 2024, 03:41 PMPeople don't always know in advance--several years ago, I had a phone call that my mother in UK had fallen and broken her femur. At 86, the chances of recovery weren't good. I was able to go into the travel agent and book a flight leaving the next day, didn't have to worry about a vis...

Is this Emirates’ new A350 business class?
Nov 29, 2023, 06:26 PMI seem to remember flying (I think from UK to Singapore) on an RAF plane with all seats facing backwards. It was a bit strange, but when you're above the clouds, it isn't noticeable.

What makes a great hotel room for business travellers?
Nov 02, 2023, 05:44 PMI also agree about the desk. I only travel for leisure, but I like room to read the paper on the desk. Plenty of accessible power points as well.

Airbus A321LR business class concept doesn’t recline
Sep 09, 2023, 08:32 AMI don't like the look of this at all. If a flight is long enough for me to pay for business class, I want a lie flat bed. The stowage bin may be deep, but it's an awkward shape, looks as if it would be hard to fit a handbag into it.

COVID-19 vaccine - paid options
Jan 16, 2021, 08:12 AMRichard, I know we all have to die sometime, but this virus has also killed younger people, not just us oldies. As for the border closures, yes, they're harsh, but the Melbourne lockdown showed that not everybody will follow the rules. If we all maintained our distance and wore a mask when that...

COVID-19 vaccine - paid options
Jan 15, 2021, 10:13 PMYes, we should be scared of the virus--just look at the numbers of infections and deaths in the UK and the US, and yes I know that they have bigger populations than we have.

COVID-19 vaccine - paid options
Jan 13, 2021, 03:26 PMEven if you can pay for it, should you? As others have said, it's unlikely anyway as there are limited supplies.

Once travel resumes, where will you be headed?
Jun 15, 2020, 11:50 AMI should have just returned from a 5 week trip to UK, Russia and Switzerland. I booked last August for departure on 5th May and had paid in full for airfare, cruise in Russia and coach tour in Switzerland. Now all my money is held in credit for at least a year. I'm hoping to take the same trip...

Sleeping on flights: pyjamas vs underwear or shorts only
Dec 12, 2018, 09:56 PMI flew to UK this year, wore QANTAS pjs on MH and Oman air. Coming home, I changed into Oman pjs, kept them on to transit Muscat, and when I got to KL. Walked through the lounge to the shower, changed into QANTAS pjs and changesd back when I landed in Melbourne. Nobody seemed to mind.
