Virgin Australia upgrades Adelaide Airport lounge

Virgin Australia expects to open a bigger and better lounge at Adelaide Airport this month, finalising an overhaul of the airline's domestic lounge network.

The existing Adelaide lounge will gain room for an extra 40 travellers, lifting total capacity to 180 seats, with the addition of "Virgin Australia's signature lounge furniture" offering plenty of AC and USB power sockets.

The expanded lounge space is slated to open at the end of August.

Virgin's rolling revamp of its lounge network has swept through Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and most recently Perth as the airline builds its pitch to corporate travellers as an alternative to Qantas.

The aerial component of this battle has seen both Virgin and Qantas upgrade their transcontinental Airbus A330 fleets with modern spacious lie-flat business class seats, in Virgin Australia's The Business...

About bloody time... Virgin's Adelaide lounge still looks like its Virgin Blue days but with a sandwich toaster and a new logo at the door. Qantas must be laughing all the way to the bank with its much nicer and larger Qantas Club and a CL next door.

Yep, that Adelaide Qantas lounge has to be the most underrated lounge in their domestic network...So much space!

I wonder if Adelaide Airport will try and screw Qantas on rent when it comes time to renew the lease!

I somehow think not as they both need a mutually benificial agreement. Both parties would lose if Qantas reduced services.

I couldnt believe how big the ADL QP is the first time I went in there - I reckon its almost 10 times the size of the ADL VA lounge.

This VA upgrade is long overdue - the ADL lounge is easily the worst in the network. Tired, dirty furniture (those tub chairs are horrid) and its often very cramped. On the plus side the lounge staff are probably the nicest of any lounge in the network - very happy to help with anything and very apologetic if theyre unable to do things like FlyForward. I bet theyre looking forward to the upgrade.
