Air Canada will add private business class suites to its Boeing 777 and 787 jets, as part of an expanded rollout of the airline’s new Glowing Hearted cabin design beyond the Boeing 787-10 and Airbus A321XLR fleets.
For the ageing 777s and 787s, the tip-to-tail transformation will also include the Star Alliance member’s latest premium economy and economy recliners, with inbuilt tablet holders complemented by – rather than in place of – sharp 4K OLED screens with USB-C power and Bluetooth audio.
More broadly, the Glowing Hearted theme embraces a fresh, warm palette embracing bespoke fabrics of greys and stone, natural woodgrain details offset by bronze metal accents, and leather-grain surfaces.
Kiyo Weiss – Air Canada’s Senior Director of Sales, Asia Pacific – confirmed the plans during a media briefing in Sydney this week, to mark a decade of Air Canada’s Brisbane-Vancouver service.
“Our 777 and 787 aircraft will be refurbished, but it will not happen until 2029, so the existing markets with those services will have to wait for a little bit.”
It’s expected the big 777s, like the 787-10 Dreamliners, will boast Signature Plus suites at the front of the cabin.
These four oversized suites contain a larger 2m bed, companion seating, and a 27-inch screen, while the centre suites can be opened into a social ‘quad’ arrangement.
Air Canada expects to take delivery of the first of 14 Boeing 787-10s at the end of this year, with the bulk of the order flowing across 2027–2028.
In launching the Glowing Hearted concept, airline Chief Operations Officer and Executive Vice President Mark Nasr said the program was “about fundamentally redefining the experience of flying with Air Canada.”
“From the moment of stepping on board, we’re setting a new standard for how Canadians and the world connect with our brand.”
This revolved around creating “an experience defined by a strong Canadian sense of place, alongside a commitment to craftsmanship, functionality, and long-term durability.”
“This investment in the care and comfort of our customers is a key element of our New Frontiers growth strategy to become one of the world's leading airlines.”
