China Southern's Airbus A380 now flying Sydney-Guangzhou

China Southern begin daily Airbus A380 flights between Sydney and its home base of Guangzhou today, Monday 28 October, making this Sydney’s fourth superjumbo service alongside Qantas, Emirates and Singapore Airlines.
The A380 will take over the airline’s CZ325/326 service, which departs Sydney at 11.15am to reach Guangzhou at 5.30pm.
The 502-seat superjumbo will boost the airline’s capacity by 40 percent compared to the Airbus A330 which currently flies this route.
The addition of the A380 caps off a series of upgrades to China Southern’s other Australian destinations of Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, all of which now use the airline’s latest Airbus A330s with lie-flat beds in business class (shown below) and personal video screens in all economy seats.
Travellers heading through to London on what China Southern calls its Canton Route – a Chinese spin on the Kangaroo Route – can make the second leg of their journey on a Boeing 787, with the option of a 72 hour visa-free stopover at Guangzhou. This will be New Zealand’s first Boeing 787 service, with the Dreamliner making its debut at 3pm Monday October 28th and slotting into the daily CZ305/306 service. This will be supplemented by a second Boeing 787 across the summer peak period from December 4 to March 1 on the new CZ335/336 service, although only for three days each week. Interesting, first airline with F class seats in the 787! All others are waiting for the stretches version to put in an extra class. Wonder how the economics work for CZ.

It wouldn't be an economic option to fly from CAN - HKG - CAN, but it would be quite a good option to fly from CAN - HKG - (somewhere south of HKG) - HKG - CAN. As long as it's not like Cathay - Cathay doesn't let any Australians on the BNE - CNS sector of its CX 103. Hope I have a 787/380 choice from HKG to CAN and some other place like SYD or SIN or, even, BKK.
