Anyone can put some light RE: Topic? I managed to book First reward flight on 23 July (how lucky I am!), but when I received confirmation I discovered that it is NOT QF2 flight but QF82! Future investigation shows that Qantas replaced A330 on Saturday QF81 and on Sundays QF82 to A380 from 17 June (I think) for few months. Moreover I found few ADDITIONAL A380 flight in July or August with weird numbers like QF778. Anyone can put any light on this?
I think the QF778 type flights could be additional "supervised" training flights to get some of the new crew's hours up to full rating. Or something along those lines.
With the additional A380's being resurected from the depths of sleep, the newly hired or upgraded crew being trained need to get some extra hours in to get up to standard.
Knowing the tight $$ watching company they now are, they won't miss an opportunity to get some cash out of the training session too.
Qantas doesn't have a true first class. Deluxe Business class yes. You'll need to set your expectations despite the amount of points or money you've spent, which wont equate.

I regretfully disagree. I flown almost all Oneword carriers in their First and I would fly QF any day. If you reckon that gimmicks like sliding doors or shower in the sky make "true" First then we thinking in different categories.

I was just wondering what dates you saw for QF778, would be cool to fly an A380 domestically.

It was listed as SIN-SYD flight so it is another mystery why flight with number above 400 is listed as international?
NB I have a look and found that Qantas changed flight number and now it QF332 :-))) You can find it in Plan->Timetables for example 8 Aug at 20:25 SIN-SYD. However funny things that I cannot find any tickets on this flight - neither commercial nor award.

You clearly haven't flown much if you find SQ, EK, LH or even EY F all inferior to QF.

All companies that you listed is out of Oneworld list. I do not buy First tickets because IMHO it is waste of money. I even do not like to spend points on First though it is much better comparing to money. So all what I flown in First was on points or airlines upgrade. I like to try SQ and LH but my points not good for that. I tried EK and still feel that QF better. If I been tossed hardly I may choose JL First over QF First, but frankly they not flying the same routes. Otherwise if I have choice I would choose QF First over any other Oneworld carrier. Of course YMMV.

Was on board of this aircraft last week, talked to FA and been told that Qantas get those 380 in old configuration (yep, 2-2-2 in business!!!) out of storage because of shortage of aircrafts. Reason been QF retire all 747 fleet when Covid19 emerges and it was much earlier then they planed to, so I been told. Also FA mentioned that according to their understanding QF does not plan to upgrade those 380 with new seats, but going to use them on SYD-HKG route during our summer, so be aware about "upgrade".
