Had a great flight ,FA's and food terrific , but the flight was spoilt by a shortage of toilets (3) only and you share with premium economy   1 upstairs and 2 downstairs ,a ratio of 1 to 25 ,this is rediculous, there were large queues waiting to use the bathroom during the whole flight ,has anyone experienced this ,and please QANTAS as a company director I find this hard to take .please FIX . I believe in a resent refurbishment 2 toilets were removed,

hmmm. 'large' queues during the WHOLE (14ish hr) flight. So you 'required' the loo every MINUTE of the 14hr flight? or are you just having a whinge because on the odd occasion you saw a few people waiting for the loos at peak times? You specifically mention the 1 loo upstairs, and 2 loo downstairs. That in itself reveals the seatmap and loos in Business is 3 loos for 58 Business Passsengers. A ratio of 1 to 20. This ratio for J/C really isn't ridiculous. AND Premium Economy has a SEPERATE loo just in front of P/Y. Maybe you should be whinging about why BUSINESS CLASS passengers spend so much time in the loo if there are LARGE queues during the WHOLE flight...those are your words!!!

The reason I post when I do, is because I am sick of those who bag airlines, post/whinge, based on GENERALIZATIONS AND/OR NO FACTS AT ALL!!!

Not following the 1 upstairs comment - the upper deck of QF 744's have always been 1 toilet behind the cockpit and 1 just in front of the upper galley...

Has this changed?

Has this changed?

It depends on the config

The 747 ER's (6 of them) have 1 upstairs, 3 downstairs premium toilets and 6 in economy

The 747 with First (2 of them) has 2 first class toilets, 2 upstairs, 2 downstairs premium toilets and 8 in economy

The 747 with out First (3 of them) has 1 upstairs, 3 downstairs premium toilets and 6 in economy

Compare this to the a380 which has 2 First Class Toilets, 4 Premium toilets and 8 in Economy

When you compare the A380 to the 747 the toilet numbers aren't looking so bad!

All I can say is the truth is in the pudding ,have you done the flight yourself in J before criticising !  The Fa

ON BOARD asked me to post ,as I beleave 2wc were removed a few months ago AND THEY WERE GETTING A LOT OF FLACK, since 1st CLASS was removed ,and no we were not in the Lou every few minutes ,most toilets are used just after meals ,however as on most long flights PJ's are provided and also require using the bathroom.I
I use Qantas a lot and none of there 330,s 380,s have this problem ,it's all about premium service ,as these don't share the bathrooms with premium economy.

Considering toilet ratios for J, or where combined with PE, the A330s can be be the best and the worst of the QF wide body fleet.  14 on the 300s, 18 on the two 200s with the old seats and a miserable 28 for the rest of the 200s.  These were intended to only fly domestically but are now doing long international sectors.

The 747s and A380s are about the same at around 25.
I think you will find it is a long time since any changes were made to 747s, other than the recent quick spruce up of the old F cabins on the 2 oldest 747s.   That these have 2 toilets upstairs for their 24 J pax, does indicate that 1 toilet was removed when the Skybed 2 seats were installed and the seats reduced to 18 on the 9 other 747s.  This was not recent though.

I see the potential for a new Qantas-branded product. Qpan, a new Marc Newson designed bed pan. Stylish and contemporary. Better register Qpan before Qatar Airways get on it! Go!

I travel frequently SYD-JNB in business on Qantas and have never had a problem with waiting for a toilet, never any queues. You must have been very unlucky. Completely agree that the crew have been awesome every trip. On another note I have always been lucky with the skybed 2, except for one trip where we chose the first class seats and I personally found them less comfortable although I'm sure they would have been better than the first generation of the skybed. Has anyone compared the 1st gen skybed to the first class seats on this 747?
