Do we know the new routes after Perth-London for the qantas dreamliner? I'm trying to find out when a BNE-LAX will be upgraded from the current 747's?

The first 4 are being used on LAX-MEL-PER-LHR and allowing the retirement of 2 747s with the shifting of 2 A380s off the MEL-LHR route.

In order to meet the goal of retiring 3 more 747s, the 2nd batch of 4 787s needs to be used on existing 747 routes (or other routes that allow shifting other aircraft onto existing 747 routes). It is not possible to open new routes with the 2nd batch (as has been suggested with rumors of PER-CDG) and retire 3 747s.

Possible routes for the 2nd batch include SYD-SFO, SYD-YVR and BNE-LAX-JFK. JNB and SCL routes are unlikely due to current CASA requirements. HND and HKG are unlikely due to regular high bookings. Removing A380s from MEL and making MEL-LAX double 787 is also possible. It isn't yet known what the 2nd batch will be doing.

Nothing's been announced as yet, but it's been tipped that the next new route to follow Perth-London could be Perth-Paris, which – in the same way that Perth-London sets up a London-Perth-Melbourne-LAX arc for the same Boeing 787s – could then see an onwards leg to Brisbane and LAX (such as Paris-Perth-Brisbane-LAX).

One would wish the first route for the Qantas 787 route would be Alan Joyce out the door and deported.

Hello!?! The success of Qantas including these new routes we're discussing and the 787 is BECAUSE of Alan Joyce.

Silly comment fish1983. Thanks to Joyce, Qantas' financial position is the envy of all major airlines. And if you haven't got sound financials it's all downhill.

Fish1983,

Not sure where you would deport AJ to as he is an Australian citizen or why as he has made QF profitable.

AJ is very intelligent - you try running an airline profitably  and see how you go

If the idiot doesn't even realise that AJ is an Australian citizen, I suspect anything more intellectually complicated would really be a problem......
