Not a one off.....but yesterday, had a Flexi ticket from Adelaide to Sydney - one way. Cost $400 +

Finished earlier than expected, the only tickets left on same flight were $1462 (one way Adl-syd) - noted that all other airlines (Jetstar/Virgin were full-nothing left)

As circumstances had it, I had one of my colleagues in Mackay, also looking to get home earlier, the cheapest Qatans ticket $800+ - so not an isolated incident.

My colleague decided to stay overnight and fly virgin back this morning at $320 plus $150 hotel.

Regards my flight ex Adelaide, the plane was 2/3 full - so not many takers at $1400 plus.

I wonder how many people will stay over and pay the hotel. The flight ADL - SYD was only 2/3 full. Evidently some management diktat has come down t the Bot programmers to up the price only when the other airline are full. Big mistake and not n-noticed.

qantas are price gouging to their own detriment, there is enough dissatisfaction with the way qantas management are treating frequent fliers. it is only a matter of time before Joyce is found out for what he really is, Qantas may have had great results this year, but this is based upon greatly downgraded results from previous.

Qantas FF are getting sick of tired of the so called 'loyalty spin' there is no loyaltyty from qantas management . The qantas ground and air staff continue to be polite, helpful and courteous, but even there the cracks are showing, there is open hostility to qantas management, from a number of private conversations I have had.

the wheels will come off qantas soon, when people start to drill down on how they are dealing with customers, especially those long standing ones like myself.

its insane when you think about it. It regularly costs more to fly MEL-SYD return (flexi) than it does to fly Los Angeles

Our company has ditched the Flexi fares, we have found regularly that the cost of changing is disgracefully high that we don't bother and in some cases even book on another airline, I agree the gradual shift of QF back to its arrogant past is becoming evident.

It's the same here in the US. Prices to fly NY-BOS regularly are $700+ for the 45min flight. That is being purchased a week out. Its not just QF, they are all the same.

What sort of fare were they offering for $1400+. I cannot see any QF fare for that price. Even full Y is only $979.
