I’ve just been told by a senior Qantas staff member this evening in Singapore that an announcement is imminent on Lounge news...As early as next week.

They strongly suggested it would be two fold, including an update to the existing lounge and a new facility for premium travellers / top tier QFF.

Time will tell...and if accurate, this is excellent news.

Will be welcome news if it’s true. I was in there last week and even with turning QC pax away at the door it was crazy inside.

On QF2 overnight. Easier to pop into BA for a shower and freshen up than my home QF lounge

Qantas know they have a problem with the current lounge. What was explained to me was it was hard to find available space close to the lounge to expand or provide a new First lounge (I will call it this). Also, this is where the kitchen is. Do they trolley the food across to a First lounge? If the rumour is true that will be great. Near the current one or in a different place all good. The current situation is demanding both on FF members and staff working there.

Given that Singapore sees multiple First class flights from oneworld airlines (Qantas, BA), it may justify to open a oneworld first class lounge to cater to these passengers and in turn also benefit oneworld FFs. It would be an interesting concept too to open a bigger Oneworld lounge serving all oneworld airlines like the one in LAX just to alleviate the crowding.

Cannot come soon enough. On QF2 the other day and gave up waiting in line. Nipped into the empty BA lounge next door to freshen up, grab a satay stick or two then out. Thank you BA. Not so flash QF

Well overdue. P1 QFF and have just been asked to go to BA lounge as Qantas lounge is full (school holidays...), travelling First on QF36. Not happy initially, however must say the BA lounge is nice and quite and the satay sticks are good - I think I may just go straight to the BA lounge in future till Qantas sorts this out.

Still no announcement so looks like the QF marketing team have done their job again. Keeping loyal QF customers coming back for more of the same (or should that be less of the same).

Which oneworld flights to SIN have F?
Other then BA11/12, BA15/16, QF1/2 and QF35/36, I can't think of any other flights with F. The other oneworld airlines that fly to SIN (CX, JL, AY, UL, MH and QR) either don't use T1, don't have F or don't use F on the SIN route.

So you're looking at a max of 112 F pax a day, almost all of which are in SIN during the same 3 hour period.
Which means, you're either looking at a lounge for ~150 people, which is only open for 4-5 hours a day, or you're looking at a lounge for Emeralds.

A dedicated F lounge, which is only really needed for around half the time the current lounges are open, doesn't seem like a useful expense.

Where is this so-called 'imminent' announcement, ChrisB?
