Hi guys. Might have posted this question before. I am currently on 410 SC for my year (end Jul31.) Hence you could say I'm going for gold. As it stands, with all my current QF bookings I will be reaching 500 fairly soon. At 500 SC I will choose the 50 SC loyalty bonus, this will put me at 550. From that point on, the rest of my bookings will get me to 680SC so it looks like I need to do a mel-syd status run. My question is as follows: does the 50 SC loyalty bonus count towards achieving gold status?
Don’t forget for the rest of this week it is double status so look for a sale fare to somewhere close by you only need 10 each way and get 40 which will cover you.
The 50 bonus points are awarded after flying and earning 500 status points, if your 410 SC is a combo of flying and last years DSC promo then you won't get the 50 until 500 worth of flying status points are earned - go to QFF../your-account/status-activity page and view how many points you have towards the bonus 50. It should read something like: You’ve earned 290 Status Credits on eligible Qantas or Jetstar flights

They do count towards status, the double status credits do not count toward bonus.
I don't understand that comment. are you saying that any status credits you earned as part of a double status credits flight do not count or they do count? I'm confused!
They count towards you total but not when it comes to calculate the bonus, as stated above. If you have 500 status credits and get a bonus of 50, you will have a total of 550 SCs but your count towards the next bonus will be 0.
Please, oh please, use English rather than acronyms. Not all readers understand the jargon. All jargon in any industry or profession is intended to keep those not within the fold out. This series of comments and questions is not too bad. Sc = status credits - I assume, but it gets rather rugged when there's an alphabet of initials, e.g. f, j, k, etc.

Indeed - when commenting, we do ask readers to use words that people can read, rather than letters or abbreviations that some people won't understand, the latter being better-suited to 'frequent flyer'-type websites, as opposed to AusBT which has a clearer focus on mainstream premium travel.
(After all, people shouldn't have to read a comment, head somewhere else to look up what each abbreviation means, come back and re-read the comment again and then try to piece things together: people should just be able to read and understand what's being said.)
Moderators do remove abbreviations and the like from time to time (not always possible, due to time constraints), but I have asked our IT team to consider implementing an automatic word replacement tool on the site, that replaces obscure letters like 'J' with real words like 'business class', but that's still being discussed.
I just reached another Loyalty Bonus where I can choose between SC and point.
As I have reached already platinum status for this year I wonder if I choose SC instead of points after my renewal period (31.05.2019) if SC would be credited towards my next renewal period? If this would not be the case I would be better off taking additional points as otherwise I would waste SC as I wont reach P1 at all... Can anybody help please... Thanks
