I regularly fly Finnair to Europe via Tokyo and have never had a problem with points or SC allocation, they usually show up within 2 weeks. On a recent trip i have had numerous problems with allocation
1) Business class from MEL - NRT and NRT to SYD credited as discount economy (only 15 SC). No response from
2) NRT to HEL, AY 7212 firstly no record of travel which happens so i forwarded proof and had a response of "ineligible flight"
3) MAN to HEL, AY 1362 firstly no record of travel which happens so i forwarded proof and had a response of "ineligible flight" . I have taken this flight multiple times in the past with no problems.
Of 6 flights on the one e ticket only one had been credited. HEL to AMS
Is anyone aware of changes to Finnair or JAL points and SC allocation to QFF ? I have followed up with no response from Qantas customer service, even to their dedicated platinum line.
I had a "problem" when i flew AY from SIN-HEL, then separately to HEL-LAX.
The flights came as ineligible when i submitted for points claim on one of the sectors, but after 3 additional weeks, the points and status credits were added (even after receiving ineligible sectors notification by email from QFF".
You may want to wait for another few more weeks and update us all?

Tyapical bloody Qantas. Only thing that is eligible is when they take your cash. I've had some "eligibility" issues too.
In your case, it's just a misunderstanding of the T&Cs on needing to book a flight originating in Australia.
That's easily fixed by going to Qantas Future Planet and offset carbon emissions for SYD-MEL return for $1.94. That charge should trigger your two lounge passes, problem easy solved.
The OP here will have far greater problems trying to chase up this AY/QF issue.
There is no flight numbers listed as ineligible on the QF Airline Earning Table for Finnair. Assuming it is an eligible booking class, I can't see how they can be correctly excluded.
And the saga continues, I have now been told to contact Finnair and they will need to credit the points and SC to my account (doesn't sound right to me but i will try)
Also with the JAL business being credited as economy it is apparently because my booking was (I) and that is credited as economy, only 15 SC for a 10 hour business flight, thanks Qantas and JAL, I get more for MEL - SYD economy.

You may want to email the boarding the boarding passes and e-ticket to [email protected] and point out that I class is paid business class and according to the Terms and Conditions eligible for business class points/status credits.

According to the Qantas Points Table for JL, 'I' class does indeed earn at 'standard economy' rates, which is 15 SCs from MEL-NRT and NRT-SYD.
Unfortunately, if your original itinerary/ticket says the JL flights were booked in 'I' class, then it appears the status credits earn is correct with Qantas (and I agree, that's very unusual and somewhat deceptive).
Also regarding the Finnair issue, very high flight numbers (e.g. 5XXX, 6XXX, 7XXX etc) tend to be codeshares or special charter flights for most airlines. While I don't know the specifics of what's going on here, having a flight numbered AY7212 would make me suspicious it isn't a normally scheduled flight, and I'd expect to run into issues with crediting.
The 'proper' NRT-HEL flight numbers are AY72 or AY74. MAN-HEL normally is AY1362 or AY1366, so there shouldn't be issues with that leg.

That is very strange! I've flown RTW business with Finnair a few times and each leg is credited without issues. Keep us posted
