Lune Croissanterie is already an Australian cult favourite, with queues snaking out the door at its Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane bakeries for those perfectly layered, buttery pastries.

But now, Lune’s magic is reaching new heights – quite literally so.

Qantas has launched a new cocktail featuring Lune Croissant Gin, the result of a collaboration between Lune and Four Pillars.

Dubbed The Continental, and exclusively served in Qantas first class lounges this autumn, it brings an unexpected pastry-inspired twist to a pre-flight drink.

Croissant Gin is distilled with actual croissants from Lune, capturing the rich essence of the bakery’s famous creations.

Also finding their way into the still: vanilla pods, macadamia nuts, roasted almonds and wattleseed, nutmeg  and lemon myrtle, all bolstered by Lune’s caramel-smelling clarified butter.

The botanicals basket was loaded up with organic fresh oranges to help bring brightness and balance to the gin.

The final result is a silky, buttery sip with a hint of sweetness from vanilla bean, a touch of warm spice and and real depth from all the roasted nuts.

The legion of Lune aficionados will consider this isn’t just a cocktail – it’s an experience.

Also featuring in Qantas' autumn cocktail lineup is the Rhubarb Spritz, a light and refreshing option, and the Plum On Sour, crafted with Starward Nova whisky and plum flavours.

In all, 45 new cocktails are taking wing on Qantas flights and across its global lounge network from March, including 15 new non-alcoholic options which are an addition to the menu following customer feedback.

Alongside The Continental, visitors to the Qantas First Lounge can also savour new seasonal dishes such as

  • warm salad of enoki mushrooms with pumpkin puree and caramelised roasted chestnuts
  • crispy spiced duck with grilled plum
  • slow-cooked lamb with grilled fennel, macadamia and wattle seed romesco
  • steamed snapper with Jiangxi sauce, radish and cabbage pickles and jasmine rice
  • braised beef brisket with caramelised onions and shiitake mushroom sauce
  • ginger cake with plums, prosecco jelly, bay leaf mascarpone and pecans
  • chocolate fudge cake with yoghurt ice cream

But come on, the star of this show is almost bound to be that Lune Croissant Gin cocktail – and if you’ve ever lined up for a Lune croissant, you’ll understand the hype.

Now, you don’t need to queue – just step into the Qantas First Lounge and raise a glass.

Really enjoyed the cocktail and the slow cooked lamb is possibly the best dish I have ever had in the First lounge.
