Singapore Airlines’ transformation of its Changi Terminal 2 lounges continues this year with the debut of an all-new Business Class SilverKris Lounge.

And if the stunning ‘zero to hero’ transformation of the Changi T2 First Class SilverKris Lounge is anything to go by, business class travellers on SQ and Star Alliance partners are in for a treat.

The first class lounge has been praised for its elegant design, expansive floor-to-ceiling windows to let in the light, upgraded dining (including live cooking stations) and a classic horseshoe-shaped bar serving up everything from barista-pulled coffee to cocktails and Piper Heidsieck Rare Champagne.

Work on T2’s Business Class SilverKris Lounge is now underway, with the space slated to open before the year is out.

And it will be a significantly larger space, encompassing the footprint of the former first class lounge to deliver a much-needed 30% more room.

That’s welcome news for business class passengers whose flights depart from Terminal 2 – not just most Asia-bound departures of Singapore Airlines, but also Star Alliance carriers including Air Canada, Air India, ANA, Lufthansa, Swiss, Thai and United Airlines.

Like its T3 equivalent, the T2 business class lounge will include a quiet rest area with recliners where passengers can relax before their flight.

There’ll also be a ‘living room’ area with diverse seating options including wingback chairs, sofa seats, and semi-private productivity pods.

An expanded self-service buffet will feature both Asian and Western cuisines, while a full-service bar will complement the dining experience, serving fresh barista-made coffee in the morning and signature cocktails in the evening.

The third stage of this SGD$45 million upgrade for the T2 lounge precinct will see a new KrisFlyer Gold Lounge for Gold-grade frequent flyers in economy or premium economy on Singapore Airlines and its Star Alliance siblings.

That lounge will also see its capacity soar to almost double that of the current space – and there will finally be shower suites and bathrooms within the lounge itself.

I was in the existing T2 lounge yesterday and it’s a pretty sorry affair and way too hot! What’s going on at Changi with all the terminals being uncomfortably hot? I usually go to the Terminal 3 lounge if I have time.

While I’m on the subject of Singapore airlines I flew London to Singapore on their A380 for the first time in years. While I appreciated the extra space compared with the A350 the aircraft was looking pretty tired. I have to say though the wines were exceptional although the catering is very average. Service as always was exceptional
