Get Singapore Airlines Gold status without a single flight

KrisFlyer Elite Gold is the status sweet spot for Singapore Airlines.

It’s where you get access to Singapore Airlines’ family of comfortable and well-appointed lounges, as well as more than a thousand lounges of partner airlines ranging from Virgin Australia to Star Alliance members, even when you’re flying in premium economy or economy class.

And with the Star Alliance roster including the likes of ANA, Air Canada, Air India, Air New Zealand, Thai Airways, Lufthansa, and Swiss, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Elite Gold unlocks the doors to a whole world of lounges.

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Elite Gold also boosts your free checked luggage allowance to three bags, with priority handling at the airport.

KrisFlyer Elite Gold status also comes with plenty of other time-saving and headache-reducing travel perks, such as:

  • bring a guest travelling with you into any Singapore Airlines, Virgin Australia, or Star Alliance member lounge

  • complimentary seat selection, including the convenient ‘forward zone’ at the front of the plane

  • priority check-in and boarding on Singapore Airlines, Virgin Australia and all Star Alliance airlines (beat the queue and claim that bag space in your overhead locker)

  • speed through dedicated Gold Track priority security and immigration checkpoints at selected international airports

  • enjoy a free upgrade to ‘Business First Class’ on the Heathrow Express

  • take the fast track to Golden Circle Jade membership in the loyalty program of Shangri-La hotels for free breakfast and room upgrades, plus early check-in and late check-out

It’s easy to see why frequent flyers chase Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Elite Gold status.

The drawback is that to reach Gold status you usually have to earn 50,000 KrisFlyer miles within 12 months – that’s the equivalent of almost two return business class flights from Sydney to London, which would cost you around $25,000.

However, there’s an amazing shortcut to SQ Gold and all those Gold-lined benefits – and you won’t even need to take a single flight!

The HSBC Star Alliance Gold credit card includes complimentary Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Elite Gold status when you spend just $4,000 on eligible purchases within 90 days of opening your account.

That $4,000 spend can include your groceries, shopping, school fees, council rates, strata fees, and utilities, so you can appreciate how easy it is to hit that $4,000 target and slide a Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Elite Gold card into your wallet or purse.

You’ll also be earning Star Alliance Points on every dollar you spend, starting at 1 Star Alliance Point per dollar.

Those points can be transferred into Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Miles, bringing your next upgrade or free flight even closer.

You can even add an extra  HSBC Star Alliance Gold cardholder to your account at no cost to boost your points-earning potential.

Set yourself up for smoother, smarter travel in 2025 and take the fast track to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Elite Gold status with the HSBC Star Alliance Gold credit cardclick here for more information and to apply.

This offer is available only to residents of Australia; see the HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card website for information, terms & conditions.

Yes of course. This is independent of any status you already have. The KF Elite Gold status is earned only through the use of the card and as long as you pay the annual fee (second year) and meet the spending requirements (see T&C) you'll have Gold every year without the need of actually flying and earning Elite miles.

Cheers
